wow. his people are giving him what he wants to see whether it is relevant or not. and he isn't bright enough to know that it isn't relevant. death per cases is more important to him than death per million. cherry picking stats to help him feel good because they are scared of how he will react if they tell him the truth. the emperor has no robes.
And now after two days of in person classes, Cherokee Co has their first positive case and the whole class and teacher will now be required to quarantine and virtual school for 14 days. Great start!
Quick testing would be nice. The largest lab in Arizona still has a backlog of over 3,500 tests! Better than a week ago, when the backlog was over 20,000, and some results were taking 7-10 days to get back. How are you supposed to catch the virus early if it takes days to get results back?
We all agree, that for the majority of students, in-person learning is the best. But what kids also need is stability. So do teachers, who need time to plan. How effective is a school year going to be if it looks like one week in class, two weeks distance learning during quarantine, three more weeks back on campus, followed by two more weeks distance learning during quarantine....? That's not what is best for the kids, and a nightmare for teachers. And at the rate cases in most of the country, it's not if the virus turns up in school, it's when.
Exactly. The ideal is school as normal. We didn't do our homework the last few months so that option is off the table. What we have left is stopping and starting in person, or consistent online. Neither of which is ideal. Stopping and starting is more disruptive to more students and more staff. The sensible option would be school districts providing meals, computers, and hotspots for students in need, and everyone doing online school.
Or we have Georgia where we chose full time virtual in hopes of consistency and apparently we have one teacher from the 12th-26th, then may get a new teacher when they go in person. They haven’t decided yet on who’s teaching staying virtual and who will teach in person.
Colorado just pulled the plug on most Fall sports including football & is going all remote learning until Oct
Our school’s board of trustees voted today to have all online until at least 9/22 and also voted (with no discussion) to immediately suspend all fall sports, including FB conditioning even though it was being done very safely. I agree on the school part but am strongly against suspending the conditioning. Head coach was pissed, as am I.
Massachusetts not tracking coronavirus outbreaks in schools even as health officials say they're 'inevitable'
There is no excuses, nor valid reasons for the US to not be using the Abbot ID Now solution everywhere it is available, as well as the rapid antigen tests. We have proven time and again that they are sensitive enough to find people who are infected and shedding virus.

Very tough call to make. We all know how important senior is for teenagers. I hope he is taking the virus serious and stays safe for your family sake.
