McCain was the biggest traitor. Both he and Romney act(ed) like women scorned. And we all know the reason. It wasn't what Trump said. It's that he accomplished something as a political novice that neither of them could accomplish as deeply entrenched establishment names. That being defeating the Democratic machine. Romney begged for the SoS job. He was happy at one time to call Mr. Trump the boss, but suddenly his tune changed when he didn't get the gig. Mr. Trump was gracious for giving him the chance given Romney's comments about Trump during the campaign.

As I said in the other thread, I think the few absurd cases are far outweighed by the under-reported at this point; everyone has conceded the numbers are actually much higher... as much as 10x higher.

10x deaths? Man, some people will say anything to justify counting a death as a covid death.

I was talking about deaths. Said nothing about cases. A simple my bad would be appropriate here.

So your reply is it's ok to count BS Covid deaths because they "think" the official count might be higher? I think most people want an accurate account. And counting a Motorcycle death as Covid is misleading to say the least.

McCain and Flake were on their way out. Romney is in a totally safe state that isn’t a big fan of Trump.

If Rubio goes this route, it will be a feat of courage well beyond that of his predecessors, IMO.

Okay, let me know of any counting statistic on a population of over 300 million with over 100K observations that has literally no false positives or false negatives at an individual level. Good luck finding one.

I honestly think there should be 2 totals. Dying of Covid-19 as 1 total and dying while also having Covid-19. If Covid-19 can't be confirmed as the primary cause, then don't count it as confirmed. Let the medical experts determine those cases. But I think we can all agree counting someone who died because of respiratory failure because of Covid-19 and dying of a motorcycle accident while being Covid+ are 2 entirely different things. All I want is an accurate accounting of this pandemic. That isn't too much to ask for in my view.

So give up and count anything is the answer? That's lazy.

They are reporting Covid deaths like they do every other cause of death. That consistency is important for a variety of reasons. There is no reason to completely re-design the death reporting system because you don't like the numbers.

No, you recognize that counts are statistical point estimates. There will be individual-level errors at the local level. Some of those errors will work in one direction. Some will work the other way. As of now, any reporting bias is likely downward based on the empirical data, where the number of deaths is actually higher than the reported number.

The point is there are more undercounts than the occasional accounts or stories you bring to the board... it's just 1 case of absurdity compared to lots of legit cases of undercounting. That's all.

They are not reporting Covid deaths like any other death. If the guy on the motorcycle had stage 1 colon cancer but died of a motorcycle accident, they don't count him as a cancer death.
