The problem with almost all the hcq Studies are that they are observational and not controlled. Two controlled studies were stopped. Too many variables right now to draw conclusions. So who knows? It is entertaining watching the back and forth of those with entrenched positions

The charts might be on the world o meter site in the projections column.

Yeah, except this one showed all of the state projections simultaneously (each state to it's own separate chart). Maybe they just did it as a series of screen-grabs from worldometer? Not sure. I think it was probably a different source. I just remember that at the time, and this was probably around April, at that time they predicted Florida's peak wouldn't even be until July - whereas at that same time they had New York almost at the bottom of their curve. Different states, totally different timeframes for their peaks.

Selecting these Worldometer projections for Florida as of right now... not good. It just keeps going up through October - there is no "curve" - no indication of any peak whatsoever.

Have you guys heard of the "3 digit new cases" conspiracy theory. The rub is that if you type in any 3 digit number (meaning a number between 100 & 999) and "new cases" you'll get an article about COVID-19. What these theorists don't take into account is the sheer number of countries/cities/states in the entire world reporting new cases every day (plus some news agencies reporting numbers multiple times/day) and also reporting total cases for the last 4 months. They also use 4 digit numbers (between 1000 & 9999). Don't we have a statistician on the board that could explain why this theory is dumb? I figure it's especially worthless since the virus spreads thus making the probability of hitting the higher numbers even more likely.

I tried that with 3 different 3 digit numbers and came up with a story on each number. :):)

What is the theory here? Obviously, with 900 possible combinations and daily counts from a multitude of local areas, the probability of every single number being utilized is asymptotically approaching 100%.

    Bottom of a pint glass
You take into account every major city, county, and state in the country. All reporting new cases over the last 3 months. 392 metropolitan areas. 50 states. 3,141 counties. Let's call it n=3500. 3500 x 90 days = 315,000 daily reports on new cases.

And there are 899 possible combinations of 100 thru 999.

    So there yah go.

Y’all know what the theory is even if it’s easily explained. The top headline in every local paper is “xxx new cases of covid today”. That’s why it pops up in search engines. The conspiracy theory is the press is playing covid up to be the lead headline and in basically every story in order to create panic and strategic disadvantage at the polls for Trump. A vast majority of the press is D and hates Trump (not theory related - that’s fact). Also theory is that if Obama was POTUS, it would be downplayed.

Of course you all know this is the claim. It doesn’t take a statistician or a scientist. Why ya’ll are acting coy is a better question.

I, like a vast majority of Americans and unlike 95% of this board, see things from both sides. I’m sure there is a small amount of truth to the theory. But it’s unable to be proved. And you know what else, that’s life. Also Trump should shut up and the press wouldn’t hate him so much.

I promised myself I’d quit posting here. Grrr.

    End rant.

Yeah this is basically what I came up with. The guy then moved the goalposts to 4 digits and that's when I brought the entire world into the conversation.

In my opinion it is mostly due to the fact that it is the biggest story that has ever happened in most of our lives. The papers report on what we are interested in. Also congrats on being completely unique and enlightened. Please tell me how you achieved nirvana.

Sorry to inform you. It’s not Nirvana. It’s called rationale. Rational people see it as shitty situation we can work through. Irrational people see it as the biggest catastrophe to happen in 3 generations and the other side sees it as a flu.

So what would be the proper way to report hundreds of cases of an infectious disease other than reporting the number of new cases? Many of these articles are international (the first number I entered was 657 and the top article is a count from June 18, 2020 from Euronews (followed by a similar article from Fox News and ABC News) about the count in Germany; the next was about Andhra Pradesh in India). So how exactly is this about Trump? That would be a pretty stupid point.
