With younger people infected, we would expect a lower percentage of sick people to require hospitalization and fewer deaths. But, as sicknesses go up, more people will be hospitalized just because, (with the percentage constant for the age group), more sickness means more people needing to be hospitalized.

And, despite the cases being younger people, we are seeing more hospitalizations.

    And, some percentage will die.

But, somehow, the right wing spins an exponential growth curve into a good job by the governor.

You are misreading the discussion. This is not a comparison od DeSantis and Cuomo (at least as far as I am concerned).

But, where Cuomo is assailed because of the number of deaths in New York and the return of sick patients to nursing homes there, context and facts matter.

It has nothing to do with "winning" or "losing." It has everything to do with the information available to him when he made the decisions he did.

Because those decisions teach a lesson.

It goes a little deeper than that. Some states have done a good job and some haven't. I've already mentioned Ohio, with a Repub governor, has done a good job. That governor was criticized in this very thread for closing the state down early. Now Ohio has the best metrics of any large state in the country. Pointing out states that are doing it right, like NY and Ohio, and states that are doing it wrong, like FL and TX, isn't trash talking. It's showing what works and what doesn't work.

mentioning NY as a state doing it right discredits anything else you say. It’s like Trump. He lies So much so I stopped listening to him. When you lie, i tune you out and just assume you are always lying. Par for the course I guess.

Approaching 10,000 new cases in Florida today. Another blue state killing us. (according to Dems, Biden will win Florida going away)

Three dead and one permanently blind after drinking hand sanitizer - CNN

They were more than likely using it to get drunk. To be fair they also could have been greatly harmed just by rubbing it on their skin. Methanol is no bueno.

Well this particular topic has gone way past the point of a rational discussion in my opinion. Neither NY or Florida have been flawless. Both have different ways of counting cases/deaths and both have been proven to manipulate their records. Neither should be the model for the rest of the country and both have plenty to be ashamed of. I repeat, at this point, who the F cares who’s better at being bad?

NY has seen about an 85% drop in new cases since May 1. Florida has seen about a 700% increase in new cases since May 1. One state is doing a good job at reducing cases and the other isn't. You've been wrong about this stuff every step of the way and you continue to be. Ideally, we should learn from our mistakes, but that does not seem to be happening here with you.

No state has been flawless. But I think it's valid to point out one state that has shown a huge reduction in cases and another that has shown a huge increase in cases. What are they doing differently? If you don't like it, skip the posts. I for one care about who is doing a better job and why.

another day with under 1,000 deaths. 19 in a row, 22 out of 23 days. we need to enjoy this now, because according to some in 6 to 8 weeks we will be up to our eyeballs in death.

where do you get 700% increase? on may1st florida had 34,728 cases. today we have 132,545 cases, a 700% increase since may1st would give us 243,096 today, just a little bit off, don't you think?

Or death rate under 0.01% if you’re 50 or younger with no pre-existing conditions. (ie the people going to the bars)

The New Yorkers have all flown the coup...they’ve come down to FL for a Summer vacation and brought their scourge along with them.
