Data on the effect of masking is contained in this article. Look at the relationship between mask wearing and R0. This correlation is crucial as it crosses the 1.0 line, which is the difference between a disease that is spreading and a disease that is contracting. Wear a mask. The Northeast leads the country in mask wearing - CNNPolitics
Well thank goodness the Tweeter in Chief is using the bully pulpit to rally the cause for mask wearing. The bully pulpit costs $0. What an effective way to fight the virus. Oh wait. Which universe am I in? Drat, the one where the bully pulpit is used for whining and attacking. Sorry. Good luck folks.
We will look back on the incompetence involved while handling this pandemic in absolute shame one day.
Nonsense. We are America, not some third world nation. We lack leadership. If we can’t sacrifice, then we weren’t the nation that led the Allies or defeat the Axis countries. We just have piss poor leadership that failed at the start and then followed it up by lying and more failure and then just ignoring the problem and putting happy faces on their failure. We let the science deniers and conspiracy theorists drive our policy. How are we different from the EU, which has 400 million people and cafe and dining out cultures? It starts at the top. And if we couldn’t get money to folks who couldn’t work while we sacrificed, that is in leadership too.
This merits study. But no growth in many places where there were protests, like NYC. But, the arc was already going down. Time will tell. I think we will see that this was a contributing factor. But still too early to tell.
Lowest Friday deaths since March. Hopefully the cases keep skewing young as that will drive down the death rate.
There is still a lot of bad, including lung scarring etc that can happen. Unfortunately hospitalizations are trending up....
agree. Pence couldn’t even encourage mask wearing. When asked about it he did the whole “we have a bill of rights” thing.
Not at all. There are plenty of you guys to spread the bad news. Hardy anyone posts anything positive.
There could be some bad, but we don’t know the extent of that at this time. But deaths are down and that’s something positive.
We learned back in March: 20% of US COVID-19 Deaths Were Young Adults A review of more than 4,000 U.S. patients who were diagnosed with novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) shows that an unexpected 20% of deaths occurred among adults aged 20-64 years, and 20% of those hospitalized were aged 20-44 years. To assess rates of hospitalization, admission to an ICU, and death among patients with COVID-19 by age group, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention analyzed 4,226 COVID-19 cases in the United States that were reported between Feb. 12 and March 16. Overall, older patients in this group were the most likely to be hospitalized, to be admitted to ICU, and to die of COVID-19. A total of 31% of the cases, 45% of hospitalizations, 53% of ICU admissions, and 80% of deaths occurred in patients aged 65 years and older. “Similar to reports from other countries, this finding suggests that the risk for serious disease and death from COVID-19 is higher in older age groups,” said the investigators. “In contrast, persons aged [19 years and younger] appear to have milder COVID-19 illness, with almost no hospitalizations or deaths reported to date in the United States in this age group.” But compared with the under-19 group, patients aged 20-44 years appeared to be at higher risk for hospitalization and ICU admission, according to the data published March 18 in Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.
Hold on, the article says 20% of deaths are from young adults, but then uses 20-64 for the data. Who in their right mind says a young adult classified as someone 63 years old. Stopped reading after that since it’s complete garbage. Try to find something less biased.
no, curtis, you cannot post anything positive, you will be a sunshine pumper also, no good news allowed.
