Tennessee joins the top ten in increased cases. Earlier I noted a substantial relationship between statewide intelligence and low virus counts. High increase states ranked much lower among multiple intelligence ratings.

Trump apologists consider this for a moment. In the last few months as we try to work through this epidemic there have been a grand total of two large indoor gatherings to watch an event. Two.

Trump in Tulsa and Trump tonight in Phoenix. The pictures for both show almost no use of masks. Arizona is blowing up and they are running out of ICU beds.

How do you defend this reckless behavior? How is it, when we all need to be trying to limit the spread, you can justify Trump flaunting all scientific advice and refusing to lead in a responsible manner?

I’m disgusted. It’s indefensible.

 

84% of ICU beds are occupied and it’s getting worse. Let’s hold a rally with 3,000 unmasked kids and send them home to their families.

You do realize that all of Europe (as well as most of the rest of the world) is still banned from traveling to the US?

 

You do realize that I said when they reopen borders on July 1. Meaning they will be letting in travelers from a lot of other countries from that day on. The US may end up in a group that includes Brazil, Russia, China and a host of other developing countries that will be denied entry.

 

Texas hits all-time high for COVID-19 cases; governor urges residents to stay home

 

Hey, some great news for Texas, the feds are going to close down their testing sites in Texas, so their numbers will go down.

 

Arizona is close to ICU capacity, but certain countries are worse off than others. Pima County (Tucson) is at over 90% capacity. Maricopa (Phoenix), is closer to 80%, and Phoenix has the biggest population.

Arizona counties are also big. Both Pima and Maricopa are over 9000 square miles.

 

NC 2384 new cases, GA 1703 new cases, SC 1284 new cases. We're at 25k on worldometer and that's without most of TX and CA reporting. Gonna set a new high today for the country. Hopefully things will self-correct a little as people realize it's getting out of control and start distancing more.

 

97% of Houston's ICU beds are occupied. If we just close down the ICUs we can make that problem go away too.

It’s cool. All these people going to Trump rallies and getting COVID is totally owning the libs.

 

I don't remember any scientists speculating that warm weather would slow down the spread, let alone lots. I know there were politicians and lots of people on message boards with opinions saying that. I disagreed with a mod in the Den when he said that warm weather kills viruses, pointing out a long list of tropical viruses, then he told me I was wrong and deleted my post.

The reason cold and flu viruses seem seasonal is that human behavior changes. Those viruses are transmitted mostly through air and attack gaps in nasal passages and lungs that are somewhat dried out and have less mucus. In the winter, people stay indoors with the heat on and humidity low, so those conditions are perfect. COVID appears to be more infectious so despite people being in warmer, more humid weather it is still transmitting itself. Early in the year, without examples, maybe a few scientists hoped this wooldn't be the case, but none are going to say warm weather kills viruses.
