glad we agree that gainesville controls alachua county, despite less than 50% of the population, they might as well just get rid of the rubber stamp county commision, it is, imo, useless.

 

I don't. I'm just pointing out the the county is cutting more customers than the state is requiring of them. The county is doing more than the state.

 

again, how in the h#ll is cutting out people going to your business a good thing?you are saying a store would rather have 50 shoppers than 100?no wonder so many stores are going under,m with logic like, hey, lets have less customers to buy things.

The issue with this disease is Kent just deaths, but organ damage among survivors. Kidney damage is a high risk factor among survivors.

Very clear how to control the disease. Don’t have to stay closed forever. Just long enough. Like the examples I posted Tuesday. Open up too soon while cases are going up in 18 states and peaked in 22 states, and people not socially distancing, and the risk of spread increases and we postpone fully opening safely. Not hard, really. Country examples prove how it is done. We just lost patience.

2. They aren't "going against the mandate of the higher authority." The "higher authority" could prevent them from enacting local orders if it wanted. It didn't. Instead, they're choosing to enact stronger protections than they are required. For example, if the law requires all cars to have front airbags and carmakers put in both front airbags and side airbags, they are not "going against the mandate of the higher authority" in doing so. They're simply choosing greater safety protections than they are required. That's actually quite common.

3. The citizens in Alachua County put them in charge. Their job is to represent those citizens, not all Floridians like the state government does.

 

They clearly are prioritizing saving lives over the local economy.

Well, if the people are unhappy, they'll vote them out. But are you sure you're not mistaking your views for what the majority of people want?

And you're correct, I haven't been out of work. I am considered essential.

 

you must not know about alachua county politics,the citizens of alachua county did not elect them, the citizens of gainesville, who can vote for city and county commisioners put them in charge, they are beholding to what ever gainesville wants them to do, even if more of the citizenry of the county does not agree, gainesville gets its way.
