Ever wonder why you would state "pandemics are something we need to get used too"? You are aware that pandemics have been around for most of our lives..even if it wasnt over hyped. Get used to them? How about governments begin a directed effort when a pandemic starts instead of playing the all inclusive card?

People all over asia also use moisturizing lotions with whitening chemicals on them..we should do that too? Go buy your favorite brand of lotion in Asia but look at the labels carefully. Taxis are 3 wheeled Tuk Tuks, Religion is government sponsored. Some countries possession of drugs is the death penalty. Let's compare to Asia some more.
Facts: Asians wear a mask in some countries NOT because of disease but because of POLLUTION. Daily pollution or dust from roads and construction. So, to try an join together the 2 just isnt credible nor are the lifestyles. New normal? It's a scary social experiment that seems rather easy to put into place. Now one can see how Trump uses the same repetitive lines to gain conformity.

The argument of how many would have done this or that if this or that happened is only needed for future planners and is so irrelevant at this time. Just deflects from the resolution needed to end this.

So you don't like wearing a mask. That's fine. But like it or not, masks help limit the transmission. At least recognize that.

Anyone seen the picture of Ben Afflack with a mask on walking?

He cut a whole at the mouth to smoke cigarettes. I'm not sure doing that is within the spirit of wearing the mask.

Yes indeed. As I said above, it seems we should be continually prepared going forward with prepared plans and surplus equipment and supplies.

for those of you worried about spike in florida, i did some numbers. from may 4, the re-open date until yesterday, there were 12,597 new cases, about 700 a day. there were 819 deaths, about 46 a day. and 385,740 tests done, average of 21,430 a day, with much more of a increases in the last week, i guess due to easier availability of tests. the positive results were 3.25%, compared to 2.8% before may 4, although there were almost the same number of tests done in the 2 total months before may 4, so it appears that there is very minimal negative effect from re-opening.

Wearing a mask is not likely to cause harm, unlike a bleaching lotion. 3 wheeled tuk tuks do not cause harm, so I'm OK with it.

As for why Asians wear masks, I don't really care, I'm simply saying that it's not a big deal. It doesn't cause harm and it can potentially helps a lot, so why not?

IMO it's too early too tell. Many won't just 100% resume normal activities right after opening up. If we see a spike it'll first result in a slow down in the rate of decrease of new cases, then new cases will hold steady, then start an uptrend. That's gonna take a few weeks, similar to how it took quite a few weeks for the lockdown to result in a plateauing of cases. Deaths will lag even further behind.

It's like at the beginning of the pandemic, if you want to wait for actual numbers to act then you'll need to be patient and you'll need to understand that you'll be a few weeks behind.

Asians might wear masks in part due to pollution, but they grew accustomed to wearing them during pandemics, such as SARS. They also wear masks because they are smart and lack the vanity embodied by Americans. I spent a couple weeks in Chile last summer (their winter). The pollution was every bit as bad as I've seen in Taiwan and Japan. Don't remember anyone wearing a mask. It's cultural - but I would never say Asians don't wear masks due to disease. That's false.

I remember when I lived in Japan in the mid 1960s, people wore a mask if they had a cold.

If this were Republican run states that sent Covid-19 positive patients back to nursing homes this would be the biggest story in the media for a week straight. But Dems, nothing to see here. Just “it’s all Trumps fault” garbage excuses. No defending this.

Typical deception and misinformation. All of the states you say are open were closed until recently.

Maybe it could be that all those extra deaths piled up just in the last week . Yeah, that's it.
