This is going to be interesting moving forward.

Some businesses will require mask for employees and customers to enter. Some employees only, and some not at all.

Same with cities, counties, and states.

Each of us will Have decide who to Patronize according to the amount of risk we are willing to take. From what I saw on the beach yesterday, the kids and younger adults don’t seem to be too concerned with the virus.

 

It seems like it would be pretty easy to testify electronically although I have no idea if that is allowed.

 

Why not? Maybe if people wore masks, the hundred or so cases in New Hanover Co. would become near zero. See post 10440. One man was responsible for infecting 24 others. How many did those 24 people infect? I think we should be doing everything possible to limit the spread. If we do that, maybe folks can get back to work.

The horse has left the barn.

Businesses, parks, beaches, etc., are open for business and many users aren’t wearing masks.

We should see the results in the next couple weeks or so.

 

Much harder to grandstand.

 

Because we dont wear masks for anything else that has this level of risk in our community. Our county took additional precautions above the state and it paid off.

Masks at the grocery store aren't what helped us do well. We have faired well with no such restrictions.

Of course one person could cause an outbreak...no question...but the common masks worn by many are no guarantee against that.

Our county is reopening and folks are getting back to work. Again...most workplaces are wearing masks, and that is the type of place where volume of exposure is the worst and some reports say that is the real issue...not passing some dude on the milk aisle.

It's comical how the govt doesn't expect people to have any ability to look back at statements made just a month or two ago. Fauci could tell the sheep to wear dirty underwear over their heads to protect from rona virus and that's all you would see.

 

Those link are all from February and March. In April studies started getting published showing that wearing masks protects those around the mask wearer from covid19. So the guidance changed, as it should when provided with new information.

 

Not sure what a mask would do against anything else with this level of risk. It's great that your county took precautions and is doing well. I hope it stays that way. If folks do not continue to take precautions, though, they run the risk of making things worse. Before you wrote that there's no push for masks in your area and no need. Now you're writing that "most workplaces are wearing masks." Well, that's a good thing, imo. No need to take my suggestions out of context with the "milk aisle" comment.

 

Each of those articles is more than a month old. The last one is from February. As you suggest, the message has changed. Why do you think that is?

state allows 25% occupancy for stores, Alachua county said 1 person per 1000 square footage, much lower amount,plus, like I said, they wanted no inside dinning at all.

 

That would be Alachua county doing more than the state has asked.

 

no, that is doing less.my publix, at 1 person per 1,000 square footage is 43 people at a time,quite sure 25% is a whole lot more

 

Side note: I heard they are doing this with gyms up here in Kentucky.. that is when they finally open up in a few weeks, there will be a limit of 1 person per 1000 square feet. How stupid is that? Just keep the damn things closed. Do you honestly think people are going to go sit out in a parking lot and wait to be called into the gym when somebody leaves? This is going to slaughter gyms if it is kept up for any length of time. Who is going to plan their work outs around that shit? Risk/reward. If there is any real risk of higher spread of the virus by partially opening gyms like this, then it ain't worth it, because nobody is going to go for this.

This applies to quite a few other businesses as well. You think people are going to plan their evenings around restaurants that are only allowed to operate at 25% capacity? Go out on any given Friday or Saturday night before all this crap started and you're lucky to get a table without a 30 minute wait. Either open it up or keep it shut down. The in between stuff is dumb.

 

You are using a word that implies direction. The direction is away from the baseline. The baseline would be 100% occupancy. If their 100% occupancy limit is 200 customers at one time, then their 25% occupancy would be 50. And their 1 person per 1,000 square footage occupancy would be 43 people. Under 25% occupancy they are giving up 150 customers. The 1 person per 1,000 square footage occupancy would require them to give up 157 customers.

Alachua county is requiring businesses to give up more than the state is asking them to.

 

Not shocking since the county is run by Communists.
