I am ok with locals setting laws and rules in their localities. I thought all of the righties were down with that. I guess not so much?
All the employees at my Publix wear masks as do most customers, myself included even though I’m claustrophobic as well. After about 30 seconds I’m fine, same thing happens when I snorkel. The only people that I see that consistently don’t wear masks are young people.
Why not still wear them even if not required? The problem is that contagious diseases don't work that way really. Your decisions affect others' risk. I am not huge on the public shaming thing, even though it has historically been an effective method of encouraging socially optimal behavior, because we don't know the full story. But when there are situations where a person can't wear a mask, they are actually hurt worse by the people that don't wear them out of some spite or sense of childish rebellion.
so here in alachua county it would be ok for gainesville to have 1 set of rules, alachua another, high springs a 3rd, archer a 4th different set?
The cities of Greensboro and Highpoint North Carolina each had different restrictions than the county of Guilford and the state of North Carolina. In this case, community spread was identified in Greensboro, but not in the more rural areas of the county. The state had even more lax conditions. So yes, in your scenario and mine, I am perfectly fine with local communities protecting themselves....even if it upsets a couple people. No one in Greensboro was that upset that I noticed. Most our 6 protestors were imported from Virginia.
Who said they work any other way? Curious? Would you go to a business where employees and most customers don’t wear a mask? Didn’t think so. My point is we all have a choice and some will make the wrong one. We will know pretty soon the effect of opening up without any restrictions but rather recommendations, which aren’t binding.
No, I wouldn't. But there are two big issues here: I obviously will go other places, where risky behavior can raise my risk even if I didn't opt into it; second, this fact can also result in businesses acting safer having more substantial negative economic effects on them, given that they can't reasonably ensure that their other customers and employees are acting safely away from their establishment, potentially having a main effect of less mobility as a whole.
congressman yoho calls tha alachua county mask ordinance, quote, " draconian and close to fascist " getting chippy down here.
Yes wearing a f(rigg)ing mask is draconian and fascist. Good Lord I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.
Oh the irony of this post. I don’t know, maybe if there was some leadership, organization, and direction from the top rather than putting everyone against each other, you wouldn’t have this gripe. There are a lot of counties, cities, and states. When you leave everything up to everyone else it’ll be damn near impossible to have everyone aligned. Hell, Trump didn’t even end up following the guidelines he set, so yeah, don’t complain.
I don’t live there just visit Lincolnton 6 or so times a year. It’s 1:15 from my home in south Charlotte on my way to mountains. I eat at the Harvest Moon every time which is farm to table breakfast and lunch in downtown. It’s fantastic. I’m in Gastonia all the time though. Crowders Mtn is there and I hit that once a month. All great areas from there to Asheville. Love western NC.
Quick update on coronavirus watch: McDs is handling the outbreak well. Staff all have masks and gloves. B+ Chick-fil-A is rocking it. All staff has masks and gloves food is passed in trays and everything is touchless. A+ Popeyes is on another planet. No masks on anyone. No gloves in the place. The inside is open and people hang in clusters waiting for their food. The drive through they pretty much high five you. Their motto “we don’t give a s*** what you think”. Fu+
When you have the greatest chicken sandwich known to American-mankind, you can not give a hoot. I just want to know why you went to all these places? Did you not eat for the last six weeks?
another really good day , new cases 25,524, lowest against the last 4 saturdays with almost 50,000 more tests. deaths 1,422, again lower than the previous 4 saturdays. here is the encouraging part., over the last 3 days almost 925,000 tests with a 8.75% positive.overall, about a 15% positive result, but 2 weeks ago it was 18% positive, a 3% drop in 2 weeks is,imo, a good sign.
True, but that isn't what this is about. This is about cities having a higher level of quarantine if they feel that is what their situation requires. I think everyone is in agreement that the counties and cities shouldn't do less than the state is asking. The sticking point is whether or not counties and cities should be allowed to do more than the state is asking.
You have a strange definition of really good. I understand being encouraged but 1400 Americans dead in a day is far from good.
