Yep, there are now only 40 countries that have tested more per capita than the US. It used to be just shy of 50. We're getting better. I don't think you'll find any of the scientists on the administrations team saying we are anywhere close to testing enough to support a significant reopening of the country so we have a lot of work to do. Yay, we passed the French. Viva la testing.

 

Only guessing, the paper is a formalization of what front line folks and research teams were hypothesizing publicly as early as March:

Covid is also the miracle cure for heart DZ and cancer!

 

It is unfortunate to watch progressives continue to try to tear down America.

 

I very much want America to rise up from this pandemic. We are going to need a serious test, trace and isolate plan in place to do so and am hopeful that the local, state and federal officials that need to make that happen start making more progress than we've seen to date. There isn't any way out of this mess without it and we don't have a cohesive national plan yet. We actually both want the same thing. Open your eyes.

 

Sorry that some people expect more from our leaders than what we got. Sad to see America's Leader give us an ill-conceived, delayed response that cost thousands of lives. Oh well... elect a clown... bound to end up with a circus.

 

Even the smaller countries that have slightly higher per capita testing are not able to do what you're talking about here. That's probably because it takes time to implement. That said, we are testing more people than the #1 healthcare nation in the world, so we must be doing something right.

Yeah. I remember it being said that the two strains (west and east coasts) were basically unrelated IIRC.

 

What I’ve read so far about mutations is they are less deadly and have a greater chance to mutate themselves out of existence. I hope that’s the case with this mutation.

Big question to me is,,,, Can we find a vaccine and will it be seasonal?

 

IMO the best measure of adequacy if testing is the % positive. A low % positive means we're testing widely. I believe we've been far ahead of the Europeans in this regard for a while now.

 

Of course, But this would be a great time to remind or inform the public of this. It may lead to lifestyle changes.

The average person is not checking their own VC levels regularly. I am rarely sick and never go to the doctor. (eye doctor is the exception ), I know this stuff because my wife and I seek out healthy options for ourselves and our kids...but most people are pretty uneducated about the simplest of health choices.

I just feel that info doesn't drive ratings. Vitamin C isn't sexy. It doesn't get ratings.

 

I’ve read the conventional wisdom is extremely deadly viruses do that because they kill the hosts too fast, and thus the most deadly mutations die out quickly with the host(s). Those types tend to have very acute symptoms so also kill the host quickly while they are exhibiting severe symptoms. This is why MERS and Ebola outbreaks have been mostly localized and contained.

I wonder if that would apply here, since this thing is only moderately deadly, and has a longer asymptomatic period. It isn’t just killing itself out as hosts might carry it and be contagious for weeks (in many cases without even realizing).

 

Well, it's vitamin D, VC deficiency is quite rare these days. I doubt it'll help much though in terms of lifestyle changes, since the other better known risk factors like HTN, diabetes, obesity, etc. should be doing the same thing in terms of promoting a healthier lifestyle.

 

True that! How much C do you take each day? Any special type?

I should add good genes play into longevity and good health as well. You can thank your Mom and Dad (and those before them) for that!

 

See...I cant even keep my vitamins straight these days, but VD would have had a totally different connotation.

Hopefully this leads to some sort of change as a whole for our health in the US. Probably only short term though.

The normal deaths are way up too, not counting COVID-19. Also wouldn't you expect that less people are dying of the flu in May?

 

I know I started working out again (I has some equipment at home collecting dust) and getting a better sleeping schedule since this started lol.
