Not sure, what? he did say on 2/29 the risk was still low but that could change.

There are plenty of US citizens who would go, and who are not stealing IP while they are here.
IMHO we cant afford not to do something.

What was it? Listen I am not blaming Fauci for anything. His credentials speak for themselves, but he did say it wasn't a big risk at the time, just like the WHO said there was no risk of human to human transmission. I am not blaming them, not blaming anybody but china as they are the only ones who had enough info on this thing to know anything.

CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield called in to the Brian Kilmeade Show to discuss the nation's progress in its fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Among the topics discussed was unearthed audio of White House Coronavirus Task Force member and NIAID Director Dr. Anthony Fauci from January 26th assuring Americans that the coronavirus is nothing to worry about.

"The American people should not be worried or frightened by this. It's a very, very low risk to the United States," Dr. Fauci said on The CATS Roundtable. "It isn't something that the American public needs to worry about or be frightened about."

Director Redfield agreed with Dr. Fauci's assessment, saying that at that time in January the information coming out of China suggested "they were pretty certain that this was not transmitted human to human."

"Obviously that became corrected as they saw in the first three, four weeks in January that human to human spread was not only occurring it's actually, as I said, more infectious and I think that led to the situation that we're in today. I think no one could have predicted how transmissible, how infectious this virus really is," he added.

I'm trying to find the whole quote but I'm on mobile and politifact is giving me a nasty redirect. If you can't find it within an hour (or if someone else doesn't post it first) I'll try again on PC when I get home.

I can't find it either, I just posted another quote. It doesn't matter what he said after, the fact is he said it wasn't a major risk. I nor anybody should blame him as nobody had the information that was needed at the time.

So where exactly did he say “it’ll pass”? I didn’t catch it in his quote. I’m confused because “shouldn’t be concerned RIGHT NOW” doesn’t mean “ever” even if that’s how Trump interpreted it. Trying to pin this on Faucci even though he was visibly not on the same page as Trump throughout the briefings is low, even for Trump. How many times does he have to correct/contradict Trump, before he realizes that he may not be understanding what Faucci is saying?

And I’m not trying to pick a fight with you, just quoting your post. I THINK we’re in agreement that blaming Faucci is the wrong play here.

Here is a quote from Faucci on Jan 26th:
But two days later, Fauci again minimized the virus’ impact and portrayed it as a Chinese issue, asserting that “it’s a very, very low risk to the United States. … It isn’t something the American public needs to worry about or be frightened about. Because we have ways of preparing and screening of people coming in [from China].”

    Also from the article:
Weeks later, Fauci was still downplaying the risks, saying on Feb. 18 that the “hypothetical danger of coronavirus” to America was “just minuscule” compared to the “real and present danger” of the seasonal flu. Days later he finally changed his views and, in the process, was on his way to becoming a media star.

Of course its the wrong play, nobody is to blame except the Chinese govn't. I was just referring to the fact the Fauci said at the beginning it wasn't something to worry about, again can't blame him for that as he didn't have the necessary info for him to infer otherwise.

My county had a large uptick as it has gotten into a local prison (about 25% of the total case count) in the last week. Also the local nursing homes are bad. one in particular accounts for about 25% of the deaths county wide (total deaths).

That's the one I was referring to. Tomoka correctional. My grandmother is in a local ALF so very worried about her, although she was just diagnosed with terminal mouth cancer so COVID isn't her main concern at this point.

What he said could still be considered true, had we actually prepared and screened people properly. I guess Trump stopped listening after no need to worry or be frightened.

In all the interviews around that time he said that the public doens't need to worry about it yet, but that health officials should be preparing and keeping a close eye on things.

He was doing what I thought Trump was doing at the time, saying calming things to the public and working like crazy behind the scenes to make sure we were prepared if it got worse.

Sad to hear about your Grandmother, that's tough.
The worst SNF is Coquina in Ormond Beach, lots of cases there, I've heard through the grapevine their Admin was resistant early on to having their patients tested. UGH.

Thanks, we are hoping she can hang on for awhile so we can at least give her a proper funeral.

I heard about that one, such a shame. No cases in hers currently luckily.

to get to the 200000 new cases a day that they say they will, at a current rate of 16.5% positives, it would mean 1.2-1.3 million tests a day,
