to me this is the critical number that must come down if we are going to allow a controlled release of the virus

I get all this, but their new cases are not going down, they had over 200 more cases yesterday than they did on 4/12. Actually Saturday is a better barometer as they tested the most yesterday. Saturday compared to 4/17 was almost identical tests and % positive. You would think with the measures they would be seeing improvement and they really aren't. The rest of the state's numbers are encouraging.

 

Perhaps earlier seeding, more public transport. Although Dade and Broward do not show up as more dense, most of that population is located on a smaller part of the county land area than the actual density numbers reflect

 

perhaps they are not following their social distancing guidelines and that is driving the increase in new cases or maybe the influx of people from NYC that then moved around in their Florida circle of friends and shared the virus. There could be a cultural element in that certain cultures are much closer than others. Likely a combination of all of the above

 

Another staggering statistic is that 75% of the confirmed Covid-19 cases in the U.S. are from states that voted for Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump. Which is even more impressive when you consider Trump's electoral college MOV.

 

Id be interested to hear from somebody living in Dade County and how compliant the general population is being. A good friend of mine is in Jupiter and is saying most people are being pretty compliant but people are really starting to get fed up with beaches, boat ramps, etc not being open.

 

The problem with opening up the country for those who feel like they are safe is it will increase the risk to these people, and everyone else. The whole purpose of everyone staying at home was to flatten the curve as to not overrun the hospitals. And the more people who are out and about, the more people who will likely be infected and require hospitalization. Even those who stay at home will likely be at a higher risk unless they completely isolate themselves.

One of the reasons the numbers that are infected increase daily is we're operating under a loose stay-at-home order, and not a true quarantine order. And there's plenty of evidence that people are breaking the stay-at-home order from the protests we've seen, to my neighbor, who has people over a few nights a week. If we lift the restrictions too soon, just how many more will get infected? And how many more will need serious medical care?

Those are the facts. This is a blue state problem.

 

What is too soon to you? The vast majority of areas have flattened the curve and haven't had any issues at all with hospital capacity, they've had the opposite actually. Do you open with 10 new daily cases, 100? 400? The virus is here, it isn't going anywhere. The curve has been flattened which was why we started this in the first place. It wasn't started to keep everybody from getting it, that isn't going to happen. People have changed their habits to the point where that itself should limit the spread ( I really wish folks would put New York and NJ aside, take those two states away and its a much different picture.) Those two states account for over 40% of the cases.

 

okay. headed for the ignore list as there is nothing of value you are bringing to the discussion and the division you try and encourage is toxic.

I guess if you are red and stupid enough to live in a blue state you deserve to die will be your next assertion or do you care about the reds in the blue states?

 

Along with exposure to travelers from NY area, cruises and international.

 

An even MORE staggering statistic is that about 86% of the deaths are from Hillary states, with only 14% from Trump states. WOW!

 

Yeah a month ago, not recently, and they are past the 14 day incubation period.

Basic ability to do math. More than 16% of deaths came from states won by Trump (as if that is the important point here). Seriously, trolling based on tens of thousands of deaths. That is some sick stuff.

 

Those travelers who were infected still infected other people and gave the south Florida area a larger "base" of infected people at the time we started tracking, and then started social distancing.

Anyone not following those protocols just makes it worse. I reported a couple of weeks ago on a Walmart where the employees and more than half the customers appeared oblivious to the whole thing. All it takes is a store or two like that to really blow things up in an area with existing infections.

 

I think your math is messed up. I thought there were only 1,000 cases total and that we peaked on April 1st.

 

I stand corrected. A little more than 19% of the deaths have come from states won by Trump. Which still leaves more than 80% of the deaths coming from states won by Hillary. Whooooooaa, buddy! You really showed me!!!
