A warning for our trump followers:

statement from Reckitt Benckiser Group, the makers of Lysol, warning against improper use of disinfectant products:

“As a global leader in health and hygiene products, we must be clear that under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body (through injection, ingestion or any other route),"

Yep. I'm asking him to prove it. Feel free to link the NY Times story if you think it's sufficient proof. Otherwise, I'm not interested in hearing the conspiracy theories.

Ok. Gotcha...but doesn't that still point out that these estimates are often over calculated on the front end? Sort of what the CDC is doing now by lumping unconfirmed deaths in.

    We sort it out later.

Again...not saying it is the flu. Just that there have been anomalies in the flu that have been in the neighborhood.

Pretty sure I said that. :/

I credited social distancing and precautions as keys to that. I just dont believe everone is in the same boat and we had areas that could have been traced and contained.

You aren't the offender in question. You are pretty reasonable and have a malleable mind.

This. I mean the doctors found the cause of death as unknown. The CDC basically told them to change it. If the doctors had known it was Covid-19 they would have ruled as such.

what do you mean everyone isn’t in the same boat? Look at a place like Gainesville. Only a couple hundred sick people. You could assume it’s ok to open up with proper tracing but we don’t even really know who is sick because of the long incubation. Back at 50 people sick they already assumed community spread. The NW side of town has almost no cases compared to the south side should north Gainesville open up? Social distancing only works when everyone in an area does it. If you open up the City of Alachua which has no cases I know of people from Gainesville who may have already gotten the virus will go out to eat in Alachua and spread it. That’s why you have to have everyone social distance.

Sorry I recall lots of experts saying the mortality rate for COVID was 3-5%... some of them even post here daily.....

I am confused. You think it is a conspiracy to say that unconfirmed deaths are being counted? I think we all understand the need to possibly count them and adjust later as @mutz87 mentioned way back when it was first announced...but it is not a conspiracy to say the numbers are inflated on that end.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday that the state will begin counting probable deaths, based on the CDC's guidance

The mortality rate based on confirmed cases. We know that testing isn't anywhere close to what it needs to be and there are many more cases out there that haven't been confirmed. I haven't seen any experts, not even armchair experts posting here, saying that the true mortality rate is 3-5%.

My post was to a poster who said he didn't hear about anti-Trumpers threating to leave the country if Trump won....

Clearly he must have been in box somewhere with no TV or internet.

Yeah...including some "experts" in this thread. ;) In fairness...most have viewed those numbers as absolute worst case...but those numbers were cited.

A lot to read back through Phil, so not asking either side to prove anything...and arguably you have been the most level headed poster in this entire thread...but some were saying that early on, including some reports in MSM outlets.

N.Y.C. Death Toll Soars Past 10,000 in Revised Virus Count

"Mr. de Blasio decided, after another round of briefings over the weekend, to release the presumptive cases, the people said. Most of the added deaths took place in hospitals, according to the data. Others occurred in nursing homes or other long-term care facilities and in residences.
New York City, already a world epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, sharply increased its death toll by more than 3,700 victims on Tuesday, after officials said they were now including people who had never tested positive for the virus but were presumed to have died of it."

So most of the deaths were in hospital but they don't know if the patients actually had COVID... ?

I've treated and dx'd 10's of thousands of people over 20 years, very often we are right about dx, tests confirm or deny our dx.

My city took additional measures above our Governor who already had a strict 30 day shutdown.

It is a fairly isolated town on the coast with surrounding counties barely touched. We have available testing and an empty hospital. I mean. Empty. As in 3 cases total in all local hospitals combined...and one known death. (A couple in a neighboring county due to travel.).

With no shortage of rooms, equipment and a minimal spread...coupled 2ith most active case running their course due to strict quarantine here in New Hanover county, YES... I think we could reopen our area and trace. We are the epitome of the situation the feds and state have talked about being necessary for reopening. Our governor is lumping Wilmington in with raleigh and Charlotte and that is simply not a valid thing to do at this point. (He has done a good job btw.) But he just added a week to the shutdown, and made no mention of allowing better equipped areas leeway.
