What are your / her thoughts on the for profit testing center(s) in the state? I gladly paid the $150 fee to get 4 tests here. Three positives until I was two weeks out from symptoms.

Wanted to know when that crap was out of my body. It was still an hour wait, but nothing near the 2-3 hour wait for public testing.

It sounds selfish b/c after one positive test and 10 days of no symptoms, I could have just followed CDC guidelines. I wanted a negative test before hugging my kids again even if that could have been allocated to a free testing site.

Umm. They don't need the tests just for "statistical sampling", it's more than just reaching a statistically significant sample size (which could actually be pretty small). It's more than just academic study - though obviously that is necessary too. They need as many tests as is necessary to actually know where the virus is - it is an operational "full population" need, not just an academic (sampling) need. So that means testing every single person that could be exposed, and yes that means something like 30,000,000 (or more) tests. It's a huge number. But even 30,000,000 only means less than 10% of the population gets tested once...

If you have workers in a meat factory, and that factory had to be shut down due to an outbreak of hundreds of employees out of a 3000 or 5000 workforce. They aren't just testing people to track the data. They are testing people in order to verify they are not contagious, so they can re-open the facility safely and get back to work without risk of the infection spreading and killing more employees. You can basically repeat this operational idea for many industries where employees are at risk (healthcare and nursing homes also on the front line of what needs mass testing).

 

Not sure but I’m pretty sure trump said that if you wanted a test you could get one and probably performed by the doctor you got to keep under Obamacare

 

Is this still testing at about 10% the rate we need?

I kind of like GatorGuyDallas’ new thread for all Trump lies. It might prevent a few people like Louisville from finally seeing the light, but I like the US update / international update / Trump is full of shit update format.

according to the covid tracking project chatr, over the last 10 days tested a average of 172,500 a day with a average of 28241 positive.looks good, although the positive numbers look a little low, but there are weekends in there.

Sure. I agree. Just saying that they show a much lower % of spread, so it could just be a very low death rate there. Just like it is likely abnormally high in Gotham.

 

Florida in a little over a week has gone from projected deaths of 6,700 to 4,700 to 1,400. Not sure why Texas deaths are so low? Are they treating patients differently? They have not tested near as much as Florida either.
