People keep saying the reason why this has a high death rate is because we don't know the real number of the people who have/had it, but are fine ... just the people that are really sick or died. A counter point might be that the reason this has a high death rate is because it caught us totally off guard and we don't have a vaccine. Usually, scientists can predict the next strain we are going to get hit with and have a vaccine ready, and the vaccine keeps the death rate down in two ways .. it makes it so that if vaccinated people do get it, it's more mild, but also the sickest, oldest, and most at risk people always get the vaccine, so the flu is mostly spread by younger, healthier people.

I think the death rate is probably a bit overstated, but is going to be much higher than the flu when this is all over.

My university hasn't closed down or officially gone to online courses (yet), but t've received about a half dozen email announcements from the provost and my dean about converting classes to online. I think they are trying to suggest we do so but without making it official.

Hoping our flight to Grand Cayman is empty Saturday and we get stuck down there and I have to work remotely for the next couple of months

The economic harm is going to hurt more than the illness. Every convention in the country is being cancelled. I bet attendance at disney has dropped precipitously. Tourism pays a lot of Bill's in Florida.

    From the CDC:
“Current evidence suggests that novel coronavirus may remain viable for hours to days on surfaces made from a variety of materials.”

Hope they don’t cancel fan attendance like the NCAA just did.

In case you wondered who was behind the concern over coronavirus, it's .... DEEP STATE!
(You had to figure it was either that or George Soros.)

Sean Hannity: It “may be true” that the “deep state” is using coronavirus to manipulate markets, suppress dissent and push mandated medicines

Random thought; those at least risk for this virus are getting hit the hardest financially.

Social security payments still going out, hourly workers getting screwed.

Had the flu the other day. 8 days of not feeling great. 3 days of feeling lousy. Sucked. I am usually a 24 hour sickness guy and then better.

not sure what this has to do with the coronavirus but, can you provide some context to the "after" comments? From my perspective there is no disconnect between the before and after depending on who 'reasonable' was defined.

Landed in Dallas and airport relatively busy but not like normal. Southwest cancelled some flights so I’m sure they are trying to stay full
Just saw news on ncaa tournament. That will be interesting to watch now.
