Yeah Trump is responsible alright. He's responsible for the disastrous shortage of tests we are still experiencing.

 

I agree with everything you said except for the top administration.
The federal govt has been nothing but combative and dismissive from the start. Over promising and under delivering. The DPA should have been enacted the same day the national emergency was declared. There should have been more cooperation less denigration from the top. More leading less politicizing. That goes for all branches of the govt.

 

Has there ever been a worse response to a national emergency by a president than what we've seen with Trump? I certainly can't think of any recent examples.

 

Why are you blaming Trump for this? What has Trump done to prevent development and distribution of the test kits?

I can tell you that the CDC lost three weeks in developing the test kits because they were not able to follow their own instructions. Was Trump supposed to personally supervise the idiot who was responsible for following instructions? Or was he supposed to drive the truck that delivered the test kits?

There is plenty to criticize Trump over regarding his handling of COVID-19 (dithering with regard to shutting down the economy, unwillingness to recommend wearing a mask for a couple of months, etc.), but I don't see how testing rates are something to blame him for. We have an incompetent government organization in charge of developing a response to coronavirus, just like we had an incompetent government organization in 2001 investigating radical Arabs who wanted to learn how to fly commercial jets with no interest in learning how to take off or land.

 

When Trump should have been mobilizing the federal government to prepare for the pandemic, he was telling everybody it was no big deal, that it was like the flu, that you could go to work with it, and that we would soon be down to near 0 cases. What did he do to get us ready?

 

Actually I've only heard that impeachedpotus is responsibile for ... well ... nothing. But as for rolling out the tests... yes that is awesome.... if the date was Jan. 21st not April 21st. 15 cases to zero so why test at all, right? Way to completely drop the ball WH.

Frankly, that seems kind of nit picky as well, no offense intended. His shutting down of the economy was mostly in line with what we saw in other 1st world countries and unwillingness to recommend wearing a mask? Hell, I don't know about where you are but here you might see 1 out of 3 wearing a mask.

O.k., Trump should have been screaming hysterically about how dangerous coronavirus was. Did that cause the CDC employee to say, "Screw it, if the president can't scream on television about this virus, I'm gonna half-ass this test kit. I'll take a few short-cuts here and there, and then I can leave work early and buy a case of vodka and a case of rum to stock my cabinets and get through this. To hell with the damn instructions!"

Yes, indeed. Context matters and the United States have tested more than double the amount of any other nation on the planet.

How does that impact mortality rate? (Not arguing, just unsure.)
NYC has a much higher death per infection rate then many places. Much higher than the rest of the state.

 

perhaps that is a function of the strain on the healthcare system and the people providing treatment.
