Man, we just gotta pour on the negativity, don't we? Typical press. The situation in NYC has been improving for over a week now. Even Cuomo readily acknowledges this. Yes, what happened there is tragic, but they are on the upswing.

 

Let's use the same logic: we now have more than 20K more deaths than any other nation. Thank you, Mr. Trump.

ok, peak death occurs 2-3 weeks following peak hospitalizations...when someone is tested positive they may or may not need hospitalization...those that are hospitalized that then get worse may be inter-bated,(sp)...many recover and some do not over a 1-3 week period. That's how I understand the process. new cases may or may not require hospitalization. Those most sick are hospitalized...and some of those expire. A few may die while sick at home.

Reduced new cases may begin to illustrate spread reduction, first...Increased testing may illustrate increased new cases without increased hospitalization. In this case, increased cases may not illustrate increased spread if increased testing is picking up asymptomatic persons and cases with reduced symptoms previously NOT tested.

A 2-3 week pattern of decreased hospitalizations may be a better measure of decreased spread, confirmed with decreased deaths. What is the level of hospitalizations and/or death per 100,000,(or per 10,000 in rural areas), that suggests reasonable virus spread control for a given geographic region? Maybe this is laid out in the guidelines? So any region that should relapse with increased hospitalization #s should increase local mitigation efforts.

 

The virus is responsible for the deaths. Mr. Trump is responsible for rolling out the tests. He is doing that. He did not cause the deaths.

If you want to thank someone I believe those on the front line with this thing should get first billing. Those who are actually putting their lives at risk dealing with this disease.

 

He says the governors are responsible for the tests. Get your talking points right.

 

You work for the press, correct? That's what I meant. You don't want to let a crisis go to waste. Instead of highlighting the improving situation there, you want to drive home the negative. Typical press. Never let a good crisis go to waste. I'm pulling for the City.

 

He is still calling the shots though. And the facts are that the United States have tested 2.5 million more than any other country. That's a monumental feat.

His failure to get testing out in any kind of scale or respond early is certainly responsible for disease spread. Unfortunately for your argument, timing matters on testing. BTW, we are still short of where we need to be in order to safely re-open given the wide spread that was allowed with the very limited early testing.

So he’s responsible for 49 countries testing a greater percentage of their citizens than the US. Got it.

The U.S. has tested more than double the amount of people than any other nation. That is indisputable fact.

 

Not really. We are much larger than any other first world country. Just about any composite of Western European countries (you could include Canada or Australia) with a similar population to us has absolutely tested more than we have.

Did you miss when Trump explained how Obama left testing for a disease that started three years after he left office in such bad shape?

 

Frankly, all of our people are doing a great job from the top of the administration down to the front line health care workers. The work being done by the front line health care workers is amazing. Our leadership has been impeccable. I am very proud of this country.

 

Great that you work in such an important field so we can get good information to separate the falsehoods and empty bragging coming from this President.
