On one hand Trump want the states to handle all the testing and take all the responsibility(Trump taking none) and on the other hand he want to be the only authority to make decisions for states on when to start back up.

Basically, trump would be a great exercise in leadership. Almost everything he does is exactly wrong. I would say we can all learn from that but I don't know. His most ardent supporters have to know he is pathetic, not sure how they look past that, I know some of them are educated so I just don't know.

It makes you wonder why he hired “all the best people” if he doesn’t want to do the work.

Is anybody really surprised that the least informed President of our lifetime doesn't understand federalism? I fully expect his supporters will either defend this or deflect with some bogus charge of whataboutism instead of just admitting he's wrong and doesn't know what he's doing. But until they do, I guess I can reserve some hope that they might be reasonable for once.

    Male' Maldives
Maldives didn't need an unemployment benefit because they are still able to survive without the need to pay car insurance, car payments, credit cards, home mortgage etc. The world operates much different that the USA. Right now the resorts, of which zero guests exists, are paying there 300 plus staff for the next few months with no revenue coming in.
Now to discuss the completely lost Governor Desantis. If ever there was a man that had no business being governor it is Desantis. For someone to readily admit that he was waiting for Trump to give him direction says all any Floridian needs to know about how the state is being run. He was extremely unqualified before and is still not up to the task now. To say, well you know the rate and policy was SET before him even though he has been made aware of the issues to include that he supports the system operating in the "deny the applicant" mode is very wrong. Florida treats the unemployed like dirt because Republicans think that they are lazy takers of their money. Desantis supports and believes in this approach. Just like when a hurricane hits and suddenly the do gooders are affected there is a sudden understanding of why these programs exist and what it takes for someone to survive when suddenly the job no longer exists. Desantis should pay the price for his ignorance and desire to be a enabler of the policy that is meant to take a hand away rather than give a hand up.

    Bottom of a pint glass
I haven't seen anyone bring this up yet, or if I did I missed it. But I was reading last night how the majority of deaths from the Spanish Flu was actually the 2nd wave, that came back in the fall. Apparently it mutated 2 times from the start, and had 3 waves of deaths.

I heard him this morning saying that the curve has flattened, but that they will still see thousands of new cases happen every day for awhile. He didn't say the worst was over but that they do not anticipate the curve to keep rising.

You can see where this is going. Same way as wall funding. Declaration of a national emergency to override state and local emergency orders. Threats to cut off state funding of the states or local governments do not get in line.

I would hope not. It's bankrupt.

Speaking of bankrupt things, Trump's new council seems to be bankrupt of any sort of expertise:

He has no control over air transportation. That is purely intestate commerce.

He can't declare a national emergency to override the state executive orders addressing the emergency because he believes there is no emergency.
