I love this from the NYT's. Too funny. Of course they don't want anyone to be blamed. They are one of the main culprits. The newspaper that endorsed extended lockdowns, school closures, child masking, mass testing, mask and vaccine mandates, while demonizing the noncompliant all along the way, now says there’s no one to blame for what happened during COVID.

    From Caitlin Johnstone …

    It works like this:

    • As many people as possible are herded into two mainstream political factions who pretend to oppose each other while in reality working together to advance the interests of the powerful.
    • Those who can’t be herded into the two mainstream factions are herded toward fake “populist” factions, who then herd them into the mainstream factions.
    • Those who can’t be herded into either category are marginalized into invisibility.

    Here you go Q.

Roy vetoed mandates and let local schools assess the situation. Most schools opened.

School responses in North Carolina to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic

    2020-2021 school year
    • February 2, 2021: North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper (D) announced new school guidance and encouraged public K-12 schools to reopen for full-time in-person instruction. The guidance instructed elementary schools to reopen under Plan A, which did not require social distancing. Middle and high schools were slated to reopen under Plan B, which did require social distancing. Cooper said he wanted to leave the final reopening decisions to school districts. The state still required districts to provide a remote learning option for families that chose to opt in.[11]
    • September 17, 2020: Gov. Roy Cooper (D) announced that elementary school and charter school students could return to classrooms at full capacity beginning Oct. 5. Students, teachers, and staff were required to wear face coverings, and schools needed to enforce social distancing and screen for symptoms.[12]
    • Sept. 10, 2020: At the beginning of the school year, Burbio reported most schools were using virtual or hybrid learning in North Carolina .[13][14]
    • August 17, 2020: Schools in North Carolina were allowed to reopen. Based on state guidelines, most K-12 districts would begin the year with at least some online learning.[15]
    • July 14, 2020: Cooper released the state’s school reopening plan, which emphasized a combination of in-person instruction and distance learning.[16]
    • June 8, 2020: The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services released guidance for reopening schools to in-person instruction. The guidance included more frequent cleanings, a temperature check for all individuals entering buildings or buses, and physical distancing guidelines.[17]

My kids school in NC opened hybrid. 3 days a week in school, 2 from home to reduce hallway congestion and space out kids more. Everyone was winging it and that is as good an idea as any. Most of these right wing jokers want to go back in time do nothing and cull the herd of the weak immune systems to save the side effects of these life saving actions.

It’s convenient to put the whole blame on governments. But the exceedingly sad fact is that this was truly mass-madness. The majority of the population were transformed into frightened petty tyrants and snitches.

I do weep for the people who lost their loved ones and/or their livelihoods to the effects of mass-panic and despair.

Total nonsense. NC had a solid opening plan that included in school, remote, and hybrid... and guess what???? As a parent i was able to decide whether to keep my kid fully remote OR send him to school in person. Your revisionist history is such balone. I was there. I lived through it. I know what happened. You are absolutely right that remote isnt as good as in person and there is no doubt learning all over the country was impacted but NC had a solidly balanced plan. And guess what? SAT's dont reflect Florida doing well at all vs NC or other states. Florida is 42 by the way. Great job Desantis.

And we disagree. It was not a solidly balanced plan. He did not allow full in person learning for the Fall of 2020. We knew kids needed to be in the classroom. He allowed for a hybrid. Which was wrong. He should have allowed full 100% 5 days a week in school learning for kids. Especially those without the resources like you or I have...

Did you ever consider there were parents, grandparents, and other guardians with comorbidities that didn't want to risk their kids bringing the virus home? Or plenty of teachers and staff with comorbidities that didn't want to be around other people in school?

Fall of 2020, there was still a lot more we didn't know about COVID than we did know. And while the Fall of 2020, COVID wasn't an issue for kids, we had no idea that Omicron would be a different strain that was more dangerous to younger kids. And still today, those with comorbidities who are unvaccinated are at the highest risk, and COVID is still a top 5 cause of death.

Allowing hybrid school options in the Fall of 2020 was not only recommended by the CDC, but allowed for everyone to do what they felt most comfortable. It made sense, and didn't force anyone who didn't want to be in a classroom to be in one.

Go live in your box AZ...:D;)

We caused generational damage to the youth in this country never seen before. I am sorry you had to get back on this. @citygator decided to make covid an issue on another thread and tried to bring the conversation here.

We know you are good with the damage done. We will never agree it appears.

Go live in your own world, where only your own concerns take precedence over the lives of everyone else on the planet. We will never agree, because I have zero tolerance for full-on ignorance and selfishness.

Your approach is unreasonable. It’s just what you want to do. Covid was the issue. Not policy regarding Covid.

I see you avoided addressing the SAT results.

You are the one living in ignorance from the fear of propaganda.

And you know it. So it really is not ignorance. But the purposeful and willful support of what was the biggest public health policy disaster of our lifetimes.
