The vast majority of the world shut schools down AFTER May-July of 2020.

Want the leaders who orchestrated this idiocy to own it. Too much to ask? Of course I don't want it to happen again should something else similar to occur. But to let people like Fauci and Randi try to "Pontius Pilate" the whole school closures issue is a complete fraud.

Yes and they were wrong. SOME Countries opened their schools in May of 2020(see Europe). We were dumb(Trump especially).

Dude the EXACT same thing would happen again. All over the world just like it did last time. The powers that be will always err on the side of caution. You need to move on with your life.

Apparently The US government needs to issue a formal written apology to 95 for not being able to predict the future.

The Israeli study looking at a super spreader event was published in July, 2020, and chronicled an event that happened in May, 2020. To say the evidence was conclusive that schools weren't super spreader areas in the Fall of 2020 is incorrect. There was conflicting data. Later research did show that ventilation played a big part, and European schools that are open with outdoor spaces were safer than many schools in the US, that may be 100% indoors with poor ventilation.

As for Sweden, their initial death rate as compared to other Nordic countries was awful. It prompted the country to make mitigation measures, which the residents took to heart. For example, Sweden suggested everyone possible work from home. As a result, Stockholm lead the world with nearly 50% of people working from home. In contrast, no city in the US had a WFH rate above 20%.

Did some schools stay closed too long? Yes. Especially after the vaccine was released. But if you actually follow the data and science, you can't just pick what you think is right and ignore all evidence to the contrary. Especially when lives are on the line. Mistakes were made. But crazy to say it was 100% known schools weren't super spreader areas back in summer 2020 when there are linked to scientific papers that show the exact opposite.

Now, 95, please continue with your meowing.

LOL. And places like Sweden who handled it very well will somehow do a great job again while we are awful. Not sure why you don't want the people responsible to take responsibility.

The problem as I see it is that as the facts changed and science did not back up all the crap we were being told, then our leaders should have changed with it. Nothing at all wrong with being overly cautious in the beginning. But nobody can admit out loud that "we made a mistake" now that we have more facts. Including the lab leak theory that is no longer a theory. On top of that, our government leaders due to insider trading, investing in companies that were going to make vaccines and safety equipment to combat the virus.

You're a lost cause. It was the safe call at the time based on what we knew at the time. Again, the vast majority of civilized countries, including those in Europe, did what we did using the same information that we had. There is noting to "take responsibility" for. Most countries are not going to make a gamble like that with people's lives. Get over it.

Posted this several times before. Sweden started out very poorly. It only wasn't until they made several mitigation measures like suggesting everyone work from home did things change. And again, Stockholm became the leader in WFH with nearly 50% doing that.

Sweden also has other inherit advantages versus the US. For example, more single occupancy households than any other country, and an average of 2.1 persons per household versus the US, with 2.5. I've mentioned these differences before, and how if we followed a Swedish model, our results likely would have looked more like Sweden in May 2020, and not Oct 2020. Especially with no US city having more than 20% WFH. All 95 replies is, "meow."

Anyone with more intelligence than a cat care to comment on what the US would have looked like had we followed the Swedish model knowing we have .4 more person per household, and household spread was the biggest contributor to COVID? Or the fact that our WFH rate was 40% less than that of Sweden?

Covid was fourth leading cause of death in 2022, CDC data shows

covid-19 remained remarkably lethal, killing more than 500 people a day.

The CDC estimated that covid was the underlying cause of 186,702 deaths and a contributing factor in another 58,284.

Practically all of these deaths were preventable.

Risk of Covid death almost zero for people who are boosted and treated, White House Covid czar says

    • "If you are up to date with your vaccines and if you get treated if you have a breakthrough infection, your risk of dying from Covid is now close to zero," Jha said.

No they didn't. Not even close. There is taking responsibility. Germany did it. The US is too scared to. Swing and a miss.

Can you please rate every country you mentioned as "good" or "bad" only please? Too many words otherwise may make some posters brains hurt.

Good thing Q and 95 aren’t in charge of public health, they would literally just say screw it and keep everything open and just hope for the best with no plan at all. It’s hilarious how ignorant these dopes are when it comes to science. They think that it’s static and never changes and that if you change your stance later after more data has been collected that you flip flopped and have no credibility any longer. Very telling that they’ve never taken any type of serious science courses.
