My wife probably works for the same company. She was happy once they stopped having to wear masks but they started wearing them again recently.

Nah. It's a minor inconvenience and she's in such close contact with patients it's not a bother.

It is not about being a bother. It is an unnecessary virtue signal that is pointless. I agree for the most part adults can adjust to the idiocy and stupidity. But it is actually damaging to kids. Hence a good reason to stand up to the virtue signal.

I am sure the vast majority of her patients would prefer to hear her better and see her facial expressions.

I didn't realize that medical offices had stopped requiring them. My dr's office, my dentist and my kids' pediatrician all require masks

    In Florida?

It has not been since the end of 21 that I have seen the virtue here. And even then it was the corporate outfits really. Granted Gainesville might have gone into 22 a bit.

No masks around here. Last time I remember being asked was in November of 21 by the pediatricians office that was bought out by UF (corporate). We were the only person in the waiting area. One of the dumbest things I had to put my daughter through. Can’t do the corporate nonsense so we have moved the kids…

Here is where we disagree Q. My wife hates wearing masks, but gladly wears one almost daily to check on her grandfather (83). Even a limited ounce of prevention is worth the effort. And anyone who knows my wife knows she doesnt gove a crap about any virtue signal.

    But they have some impact.

I do agree about kids though.

Ugh...again Q. Have to disagree. "Put her through" ? On the rare occasion one of my kids is in a place where masking still exists they dont care at all.

I think masking kids is unnecessary and pointless, but Its hardly "putting them through" anything outside of some sensory issue by the individual child.

Kids reflect us. My kids have no issue with it because I've made no big issue of it.

Its funny. My brother in law makes a stink about masks and in kind their kids cant "handle" them. Wonder why that is.

Parents should set a better example, for their children, and erect chickenwire, around mosquito swamps, without complaining.

How hard can it be? If you want to wear a mask, knock yourself out just don't create more idiotic mask mandates.

That is fine. But you are not doing anything to protect her grandfather. The vast majority of evidence shows masks do not work. Shoot. That is in a surgical setting as well. Their purpose is protection against splatter.

Now an N95 in certain circumstances…sure. Makes sense. So if her grandfather needs that kind of protection it is different.

"Do not work" Isn't the same as dont work well.

They dont work well, but they do work to some extent. Heck a chain link fence catches some water from a sprinkler.

Point is it doesnt hurt anyone to do that little bit. And reducing risk by even 5% doesnt always equate to virtue signalling.

Some certainly do it because of that, bit it isnt everyone.

It is partially false. N95’s are equally meaningless, aside from looking more menacing.
