Dr. Paul Offett is one of the, if not THE, leading expert on vaccines in the United States. He is also one of only 2 people on the FDA advisory board to recently vote against the new variant specific shots from Pfizer and Moderna. He and his co-dissenter wrote a letter that was published in StatNews explaining their reasoning based largely on lack of any data showing real benefit over the original shots. When the foremost vaccine expert speaks out against a version of the vaccine that is nothing but marketing, everyone should listen.

FDA: Don't rush a move to change the Covid-19 vaccine composition

@flgator2 just missed my answer. Perhaps it wasn’t clear because it was at the end of a post. No worries. It was a good question and he is trying to learn.

Mild infection. Good. I think you helped yourself by getting out into fresh air and moving. This virus is upper respiratory and does not spread outdoors. Getting fresh, outdoor air into your upper respiratory system probably helped. And movement. When I was infected, I went for walks (indoors while quarantined) and out on my balcony for fresh air. Even worked on the computer outside

Covid going crazy here in Jax but the good thing is, so far, not translating into many bad cases. Our homecare agency has seen very few covid patients.

Now I understand why people wear masks when they’re driving…they can’t figure out if inside a car counts as inside or outside

It is going crazy everywhere. Highly contagious variant that escapes prior immunity.

We were out to dinner last night and our waitress had been out for about 10 days from covid, she got the shot and 2 boosters said she had it pretty bad. I'm guessing she's in her early 30s seems pretty healthy.
I'm just having a hard time believing in the vaccines effectiveness. We literally know more people who have been vaccinated and caught covid more than once than those who haven't had any vaccines

Agree 100%. This was known early on. Every situation is different. And rest is needed as one is dealing with a virus and needs to be careful to not overexert themselves. Getting outside as much as possible is one of the ways to fight this disease.

What is a better indicator of vaccine efficacy? Statewide data, or single anecdotes?

We've known from the start of COVID that it's a bit of a crapshoot how the virus effects an individual. There are trends, and the older you are, the greater the danger. But there have been older people with mild cases, and younger ones who had severe cases.

But look at statewide numbers, like Washington, you can start to see the trends emerge. For example, in all age groups, the vaccinated have a greater chance of living and avoiding hospitalization than the unvaxxed. Doesn't mean there aren't individual cases of an unvaxxed person with a mild case, or vaccinated person who ended up in the hospital. But overall, the trends are obvious.

So all these people you know that were vaccinated but caught covid repeatedly make you not believe in the vaccine. Now tell us how many died, or were in ICU, or were hospitalized for a week. You might need to reexamine your definition of effective.

It's not a vaccine, just like the flu shot isn't available vaccine

Poster categorizes the covid vaccine as a vaccine just 6 posts above ( "I'm just having a hard time believing in the vaccines effectiveness."), but then claims it isn't a vaccine. Dementia, ignorance, intellectual dishonesty, or troll. SMH

With the new variant, the vaccines and prior infection are just keeping people out of the hospital. B4 and B5 escape the antibodies from both. I became symptomatic 5 and a half weeks after receiving my second Moderna Booster. From that timing, it is very clear that I would still have had antibodies in my blood from that booster. Still got sick. The science still says that the vaccines keep you out of the hospital at a higher rate than the unvaccinated. That is the reason to get vaccinated.

I just don't agree with you with the vaccines, I won't be getting it anytime in the foreseeable future
