Yet the Epoch Pundit et al still feeds obviously false/misleading "stories" to feed the sheep thaty don't check for validity and/or ignore reputable sources anyway. PT Barnum was sadly correct.

This is a study published in 2016, before COVID. It looked at the rate of severe cardiac issues in athletes. While uncommon, it was not unheard of. As the study says, in athletes under 35, those that suffered a severe attack likely had an underlying, genetic cause. For athletes older than 35, there is usually an acquired issue that was building over time. From the study:

The most common causes of SCD in athletes are shown in Table 2. In athletes under 35 years of age, inherited cardiac conditions predominate, with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and anomalous origin of a coronary artery being the two most common causes in the United States. In athletes older than 35, most SCD events are due to acquired atherosclerotic coronary artery disease (CAD).15,16 Many of these diagnoses may not be clinically apparent and may first present with sudden death. Estimates of the proportion of athletes with prodromal symptoms is difficult given that the account does not come from the victim and is subject to substantial bias; however, upwards of approximately 30% of athletes with SCD have been reported to have had symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, performance decline, palpitations, pre-syncope, or syncope leading up to the event.17 Evaluation of such exertional symptoms by a qualified team of sports medicine and cardiology physicians is an important aspect of the medical care of athletes and of SCD prevention.18
While certainly not common, athletes dying early does happen. Those of us older to remember might recall Hank Gathers. The University of Arizona had a very promising women's basketball player, Shawntinice Polk, who unfortunately suffered a similar end as Gathers. It's sad, but these things happen.

While I recall there was a cluster of soccer player deaths this past December and January, over the last 12 months, there have not been any increase in athlete deaths. Sorry, John Stockton. If I want to learn how to run a pick and roll with a HOF power forward, I'd ask Stockton how to do it. But when it comes to athlete deaths, and any correlation with the vaccine, Stockton is as knowledgeable as my dog. He's just being stupid, and misinformed. So are those spreading the same disinformation.

Yes, professional athletes I read that died from the vaccine are mostly European soccer players. There are several personalities that are suspected to have died from the vaccine shots too.

We need more transparency on this very important issue. Another reason why healthy young Americans should think twice or at least consult with your family doctor... I do know that this vaccine has devastating side effects including death. Sill praying for my friend that had a stroke after getting the jab.

Here's the truth about the European soccer players. 108 deaths, but not just Euro soccer players. 108 people around the globe, and half had underlying issues. More died from non-cardiac issues, and still others died before a vaccine was available. In total, just 3 of the cases may have some vaccine relation.

I would imagine that the people who are dying in the US now are from long term Covid related illness. I doubt many are dying from the newer strains of Covid unless they had pretty severe pre-existing co-morbidities.

Interesting. I don't know if we actually know this yet and maybe you're right. Of course we know that a lot of folk who do die have had multiple comorbidities, though clearly those who are unvaxedd were much more likely to die at every age group. I don't think this new variant would change that dynamic all that much other than that covid is clearly not spreading like it was with omicron.

Cases in Florida doubled over the last month. Hopefully they turn back down.

Not many people were dying from Omicron either. At least not in our hospital. Vaxxed or un-vaxxed. Although un-vaxxed definitely were hospitalized more. Around 85% of all cases. Omicron presented as much more of an upper rather than lower respiratory disease with stuffy sinuses, sore throat, fever, headache etc.. Unlike previous strains (specially Delta), otherwise healthy, younger people (30s,40s,50s) weren't dying from Omicron in our hospital. The one person who did die during Omicron had pretty bad pre-existing issues. That's why when I would see the national death numbers during Omicron it really puzzled me. I couldn't figure out where these deaths were still coming from. We did have people left over in ICU and PCU from Delta who had been through the ringer and were just lucky to be alive 3 and 4 months later. I'm talking long term induced comas, ECMO etc.. A few of those people eventually succumbed. Those were most of the deaths we saw during Omicron. I believe that in some parts of the country Delta was still prevalent into December and January and that accounted for the continuing death count. Just my unscientific observations and suppositions.

Wasn't looking to argue (fwiw). Just thought your point raised an interesting question. But sure, your experience might not match up to the bigger picture--I respect your point & making that distinction. It's often the case our personal experiences don't match larger phenomena.

Still, I agree it's possible that many of the current deaths are of those of "long covid." I'm just not sure--and part of my uncertainty comes from not knowing yet--we'll have have to wait to see what the data show. But also because even if omicron was less deadly in terms of CFR, covid deaths trends parallel case trends, which makes me think that parallel means many of those deaths are from the omicron variant.

I'm curious to see what the data will show. And maybe there's data out there now. I haven't been following as closely recently to know.

7 day new case average flat, 7 day deaths down 45%, yet people still live their life in fear, get over it, there will never be zero cases ever again, face the facts, get out of your shell and live.

The lunatic psychos may have their heads explode over this one:

Self-Amplifying RNA (saRNA) vaccine from Arcturus Therapeudics Holding has proven 95% effective against severe disease (17,000 person trial during Delta and Omicron) and 55% overall effectiveness against any level of infection.

Without pretending like I understand it all, our current mRNA vaccines are limited by the number of RNA strands available for antigenic expression. A self-amplifying RNA vaccine can modify the synthetic RNA strand such that once it enters the cell, 2 (a positive and negative RNA) copies are made. The positive copy expresses the antigen needed for vaccine efficacy. The negative copy is used to create more saRNA copies and are spread to additional cells. In vitro, these vaccines have been shown to aplify the number of useful RNA strands for antigenic expression to 10x what was originally injected.

Oh, by the way, they are moving forward with a booster study currently.

Really, really want this to gain FDA approval just so I can read the made up shiite about this one turning humans into flesh eating hybrid demons!!! :p

And, for our next wave of infection, we bring you .B4 and .B5

Just for fun, the vaccines will not neutralize these variants as effectively as they did .B1 or .B2, not will survivor immunity from those previously infected with .B1.

    Happy trails.

Proof, please? Because if you actually looked at the links in my post, it refutes your claim. Athletes unfortunately die every year. Here's the NY Times refuting the claim, WaPo giving the claim 4 pinnochios, Politifact rating the claim a complete lie...

Still not convinced, here's a study looking at 1980 through 2006. Over that 27 year period, 1,866 cardiac events in athletes that resulted in death, or just under 70 a year world-wide. A large number of these deaths were attributed to pre-existing conditions.

wow, no bad news and the doom and gloomers sink into the wasteland, good, maybe they will admit things are so, so much better that they will go away for good, but of course i know better.
