You really want to go down this road? I know of 7 people who couldn't afford to get the jab. Not when we were handing them out like candy, but now. It's why I haven't gotten my booster yet. $120 for the booster is insane. That's on top of $700 we spent on Covid tests in 2021. Had I been an illegal, all would have been free.

 

"Welfare" requires work and has for decades now. TANF only pays for 2 consecutive years, 5 years as a maximum over a lifetime, and requires somebody to find work within 2 years.

But sure, hiring people that are generally dealing with fairly severe mental illness and addiction issues seems like a terrific policy for every business.

Your plan isn't a real economic plan but rather just trying to rant about your personal grievances in place of economics. But, it turns out, grievance is not a major element of an effective economic plan.

No mention of the cost and benefits of said policy. Shoddy.

Fact - the administration requested 22 billion to cover national Covid expenses.

False inference that the undocumented vaccinations were the motivation for the budget request in the headline and article. No mention of how much, if any, of that request was earmarked for the ICE vaccination program. Shoddy.

Fact - we are experiencing a surge in encounters compared to prior periods.

How is this relevant to the vaccinations being a "public health best practice"? It's run of the mill anti-immigrant rhetoric. Non sequitur. Shoddy.

Yes, let's go down this road. The COVID shot is free to everyone. Who is charging? Nobody should be. Period.

Tests in Arizona are also free. Not sure where you live, but tests are free in California too. And I'm not talking about the home tests.

As for sending undocumented people back to their country of origin, it costs ICE just under $11,000 to send one immigrant back. Now, sending them all back, we'd probably get some economies of scale, so we can use $10k, which also makes the math easier. 11 million undocumented already in the US, and it would cost near $11 billion just to send all those already living here back to their country of origin. And that doesn't count a single person currently at the border.

As for homeless, here in the US, there are less than 600,000 living on the streets. At least half of them have serious mental issues that preclude them from ever holding a job. Regardless, even if all could work, this number would hardly put a significant dent in replacing undocumented labor in this country, which totals around 8 million. As for welfare recipients, the two biggest receivers of government cheese are retirees and grade school students receiving free/reduced lunches. Not exactly the pool you look for to replace immigrant labor.

You can complain about undocumented getting the jab, but it makes both sense and cents. So does a plan that allows immigrants to come and stay on a guest worker Visa.

I'd like to add that the deportation process is lengthy. While the process is underway, the immigrants are potential vectors for the disease and a risk to our hospital capacity.

Amazingly, there are many paths to homelessness. Some people that are homeless are in transition due to some short-term event. Many of them actually already have jobs or are simply between jobs. When you get into the long-term homeless, the majority are either severely mentally ill or have severe substance abuse issues. Strangely, people generally don't choose to be homeless because it is just so fun.

 

So deport them during their deportation proceedings. Brilliant!!!!!
