Sadly, our society is effectively voted by their actions, and have voted for the convenience of the masses vs the benefit of the few. That ship has sailed at this point and Covid is now a known built in risk that people have to work around. We do this in other areas too, such as driving and other diseases.

Unless Covid ramps up significantly in severity it is something we now live with and people just aren’t willing to make additional sacrifices for the few.

Not trying to rile anyone up. Just presenting my thoughts.
As to your questions, the answer to them is that it should be my choice to help or do nothing. It should not be forced.

I get it should be a choice but I think most things should be choice, what I don'tget is people choosing such an antisocial, myopic, selfish way.

I think all agree with this.

The question then becomes what is selfish or a selfish way?

Is selfish getting the vaccine and figuring you do not need to follow all the covid protocols because you feel safe from covid? Is selfish deciding that not taking a new drug is something you want to do? Is selfish forcing someone to take a drug that does not stop one from getting Covid?

The propaganda has won the battle. It baffles me that some cannot see the vaccine is not keeping people from getting and spreading covid at the highest rates we have seen with omicron. Shoot. Omicron really did not care that much about prior infection either. Vaccinated/Unvaccinated/Prior Infection...omicron did not care. Yet some refuse to see this.

You do not need to take a new drug that does not keep you from spreading the disease to follow this mantra...

So should it be a choice whether you stop at a stop sign/light? Drive on any side of the road you want, at whatever speed you want?

In line with your thinking seems to me to indicate that you don't think you have any responsibility at all to the common good.

IMO, it's libertarianism amok. But yeah, I know, welcome to your mind. :D

I remember in a class in 6th or 7th grade. Mrs. Shaker, who was a true baby, taught that with our rights came responsibilities. I suspect some who post here skipped school that day.

Ok, I choose to stop at stoplights and signs for my own safety and to not get a ticket. Not for someone else's safety.

But that’s not why the laws you obey exist.

Well those are fine reasons, but you don't believe you have any obligation to stop so as to not put others in danger of great harm?

If I thought that stopping might endanger myself or my family, I might well hesitate to stop. That is a big difference here. Some folks are convinced the vaccine can harm them and their kids.

No one thinks stopping at a stop sign is dangerous. People do think the vax has its risks.

How could they think that? Reading real information tells you the opposite. We all have taken maybe 30 vaccinations. We had to take them to get into school. I have a friend who is a librarian at Embry Riddle she teaches a class on how to evaluate whether a website is a good source for information. I used to laugh that people needed to do this and then I come on here and realize how valuable it could be.

I would hazard a guess that every rational person thinks stopping at a stop sign is not only about protecting oneself from harm but so they don't cause others harm, no? Isn't that a similar logic to why we vaccinate--self and our family/friends/neighbors/the community?

But seriously, what rational person would think stopping at a stop sign is dangerous?

There is always a remote risk that somebody could ram you from behind (potential out of context quote coming soon) at a stop sign or carjack you while you are stopped.

Thats my point. No one thinks a stop sign is dangerous, but some folks (the single mom with the noisy nurse friend on facebook, the older couple with the son telling them crazy stuff etc) have been convinced the vax is dangerous.

So, how does one make an additional sacrifice for the few? Who are the few? What was the original sacrifice that requires new additional sacrifices?
