Amazing how when the northeast and their mask mandates and their vaccine passports didn't stop covid at all that now let's not focus on cases but focus on hospitalizations. That's all well and good as long as we publish the correct data. Hospitalizations from covid and with covid. Until then the numbers are garbage. I've only been saying cases are garbage for months. Funny that it's changing now...

Trump pushed bleach, HCQ, and giddy cliches ( going away soon) as much as the vaccine. But sure, Biden wearing a non-95 mask outdoors is the same. SMH

 

You were wrong about the numbers. So you move the goalposts to say the only risk is comirbities in kids. And while true, those with underlying conditions are at greater risk, regardless of age, the overall rise id COVID pediatric hospitalizations isn't just kids with underlying conditions.

The best way to lower the risk for all is vaccination for all eligible. Lowers the chance of hospitalization, and lowers the risk of spreading the virus.

Dude I'm going to give you a suggestion to help save you time. I propose you start a G95 covid thread and we lock and sticky it. On it you can claim

-masks don't work at all. Zero. Nada (except n95). Any evidence presented to the contrary now or in the future is wrong or fake.

- shutdowns of any kind don't work at all. Any evidence presented to the contrary now or in the future is wrong or fake.

- covid hospitalizations and deaths are overstated with people that have covid but that isn't their primary ailment. Any evidence presented to the contrary now or in the future is wrong or fake.

- Natural immunity is the bomb. It is always better than vaccines. Any evidence presented to the contrary now or in the future is wrong or fake.

- Kids and young healthy adults especially males should not get the vaccine. Never. Ever. (MYOCARDITIS!!!!!) Any evidence presented to the contrary now or in the future is wrong or fake.

- The flu is worse than covid with kids. Always. Any evidence presented to the contrary now or in the future is wrong or fake.

Any wrong or fake information presented opposing the above will be refuted with cherry picked, incomplete or out of context statistics so don't even bother.

Here's a good article on mask effectiveness with Omicron. If both infected and healthy person wear a cloth mask, time needed for infection goes from 15 minutes to 27 minutes. Not much of an improvement, but a trip to Wal-Mart or the grocery store, where person-to-person interaction is generally short, cloth masks may still help. But long term, cloth masks aren't going to help against Omicron.

 

Cloth masks don't work because each cloth is different. People grab whatever they find, alter it, then throw it on. The store ones are marginally better because the fabrics are better quality but, again, they're not enough. They're only effective in stopping large droplets (ie, people who spit up when coughing, or have productive sneezing). On top of that they reuse them constantly, leave them wet on their faces, put them under their nose, etc. Then they leave them wet & gross in their cars to use next time, likely sitting there growing bacteria.

As to shutdowns, they don't work & hurt kids more than help. Kids need to be in school. Precautions can be taken, vaccine is now available, and for the most part kids have robust immune systems that can withstand covid. Is there danger? Yes. You should see class sizes up here during peak flu or strep season -- sometimes over half the class out with teachers teaching sick in some cases. And I've had a kid in school up here since 2004 so I've seen the pattern consistently.

Kids with health issues should have the option to remote school (up here that's already the case), but everyone else should be in school.

Actual Numbers are 5,700 beds in use for covid state wide, as a comparison, NY is at 7,900 beds in use for covid. Don't forget people are also discharged.

 

The Israelis are way ahead of the curve regarding Covid. IMO, they are some of the smartest people on the planet, especially considering their circumstances and the size of their country.
The Israelis issue a Green Pass, which basically gives people more freedom regarding Covid restrictions. The Green Pass is usually valid from 6 months from your last vaccine, etc (they knew that vaccines lose effectiveness.) To put the debate to bed... If a person has had a previous Covid infection and ARE UNVACCINATED, that person is eligibile for a Green Pass for 6 months after their resolution of their Covid Infection.
One condition of eligibility
"Those who have recovered once or twice and have not been vaccinated are eligible for a Green Pass valid for up to six months from the date of the last certificate of recovery"

The Israelis give equal weight to previous infection and vaccines as far as immunity is concerned.
We should rethink our whole criteria about terminating workers re Covid

 

After Firing Unvaccinated Healthcare Workers, Rhode Island Allows 'Insane' Policy Amid Staffing Shortages (townhall.com)

Months after Rhode Island enforced a vaccinate mandate on health care workers in the state, resulting in hundreds of workers being let go, the state is allowing Covid-positive employees to continue working if there is a severe staffing crisis at their facility.


Employees at the state-run Eleanor Slater Hospital received a memo on Friday detailing the conditions under which Covid-19 positive health care workers can remain on the job. If employees have been exposed or are asymptomatic they can report to work "in crisis situations for staffing" if they wear an N95 mask.
As a result, at least two organizations so far have opted to staff operations with coronavirus-positive workers: Eleanor Slater Hospital and Respiratory and Rehabilitation of Rhode Island. The decision on whether to enact the policy is being left up to individual health care facility administrators.

Respiratory and Rehabilitation — a Coventry nursing home — is currently using asymptomatic staff who “recently tested positive,” according to the Health Department. Wendelken said the facility is no longer considered in a “crisis” level of care, but that “the status of the facility is fluid.”

Eleanor Slater, a state-run hospital with campuses in Cranston and Burrillville, used asymptomatic staff on Saturday and Sunday — but not Monday, according to Wendelken.

“These people on Saturday and Sunday were masked, and facility administrators communicated that they would try to have them only caring for COVID-19 positive patients,” he added.

Eleanor Slater employees were first notified on New Year’s Eve that workers who tested positive and were asymptomatic could come into work. A day later, the policy was updated to say that “staff who are exposed or positive and mildly symptomatic may continue to work,” according to a memo reviewed by Target 12. (WPRI.com)
