Check your insurance because we have patients who we've written letters of medical necessity regarding calcium scores being needed & they've been covered.

My wife recently had a Calcium CT Scan. Her cardiologist told her he wanted her to take statins (high cholesterol). She didn't want to take them, because of the numerous side effects associated with them. Her cardiologist prescribed this test and told her if the test comes out with a very low score, she wouldn't need the statins, if not she would have to take them. My wife agreed. Medicare refused to pay, however the Baycare said they would charge her $99 for the test. The test came back zero's so doc said she's good to go. The savings in the lifetime of statins , even with a drug plan D, more than makes up for the cost of the test, plus she has peace of mind that her arteries are in good shape.

If she wants to reduce cholesterol naturally, I suggest she read Caldwell Essylstyn’s book. Whole food plant based diet with low fat and no oils etc. It works.

There is not doubt people might have a health issue that has not shown itself. The number one way to protect against it is being in great health. The data speaks on this disease. The obese are high risk and the healthy are low risk. Heart disease. The obese will be high risk. The healthy will be low risk. The data shows us this...

I have had a stress test and echo in the past (passed with flying colors so that was good). I am baseline abnormal on the ekg with something runners can typically have and the echo was similar. All in all I am in a great place. Do plan to get the calcium score to know where things stand.

We were never going to vaccinate our way out of this virus. Too many people in the world.

I think we would have been better off to push the vaccine for the high risk groups while pursuing vaccines that produce a more robust t-cell/b-cell response in clinical studies with the low risk groups. Also pushing more on the therapeutics. But we are where we are. And now we have to figure out how to move forward.

This thing has been a cluster...

yep, agree. Good point. Vaccines work. Anti vaxer types made this worse and we all pay for them. A burden to society. Just listen to docs, nurses, etc. -hospitals full of unvaxed.

from worldometer, even with the spike infection rate is 6.6%, death rate is 1.59%. wonder how that compares to say 6 weeks ago when omicron started to hit.

Seven-day average for cases is already at its 2nd highest point in the pandemic. Someone noted that omicron had a quick spike followed by a precipitous decline in S Africa. Let's hope that's the case in the U.S. Even with less severe disease, the sheer numbers of cases can potentially drive up negative outcomes.

CDC shortens Covid isolation period for health care workers as cases rise

So let me get this straight. Now even if Covid positive, as long as they're asymptomatic they can return to work, even though the recommended isolation time may not have passed, and if there are staffing shortages they may shorten that more.

You know what would help with staffing shortages? Not firing staff in the first place.

This being a solution? It's like the arsonist wanting credit for setting the house on fire then putting the fire out himself afterwards. *facepalm*

Healthcare staff who refuse to be vaccinated shouldn't be in healthcare.

You are also young. Bear in mind that when they did a study on deceased soldiers on WW2, they found developing cardiovascular disease. So, while the tests are good now, It is a progressive disease. Some irregular heart rates are not risky absent congestion. But congested arteries make them risky. Make the changes now to a healthful diet. Not a western type diet. It will benefit you when you are older:

I'll take the opinions of the overwhelming majority of healthcare professionals over the very small and obstinate minority. But hey, you're welcome to go hang out with demon sperm lady.

For those trained professionals who won't get vaccinated, yes, I do. They are a small minority in their fields.
