Then they are much more spread out than Democrats. Much easier to not catch covid.

He carried Florida pretty easy, prob not the result of rural voters only.

Today on gma the opening was all about the new variant. The thing I took away was that cruise with 100% vaccinated had a breakout. And a guy they interviewed was with a group of 30 for a convention in New York and half of them came down with covid (he the new variant) and all of them were vaccinated.

I am ready to place some bets with @AzCatFan on patient 0 in theses two settings as to whether it was the vaccinated or unvaccinated that are the problem. ;):):D:devil:

And New York City is about to mandate private businesses force employees to be vaccinated. We have to stop the insanity. So glad I live in Florida!

hmm. earlier in this very thread you constructed, offered & accepted an unwinnable bet with consequences. (you never thanked me for letting you off the hook btw) may want to proceed with caution.

Omicron is a different variant, and has shown to be 3X more resistant to natural immunity than other variants in a pre-print study. It would make sense that Omicron would also have more vaccine resistance as well. That's still being studied. The good news is those vaccinated with an Omicron breakthrough case all have very mild, if no symptoms.

In other news, in a study of all kids vaccinated 12 and over in the US and Canada, a total of 139 myocarditis cases that ended up in the hospital, with all of the kids being released with no complications after 3 to 5 days of admittance. Zero deaths, and only 1 ICU case. As of 12/1, over 12 million US kids vaccinated, and a few million more in Canada. More reported vaccinated cases in this age group versus reported COVID cases in the same age group, and the vaccine has proven safer.

This was predicted by many months ago.. The south has a summer surge.
The northeast has a fall winter surge. It’s just getting going up there.

Exactly how the evolution of Coronaviruses should be. As the body leans to deal with it, it evolves to survive. Forms that kill the hosts are not preferred because they ultimately inhibit spread. So evolution favors a weaker form. Hence, other Coronaviruses cause colds. The idea of the vaccine is to train the immune system as part of that process.

Wonder how many of these PCR test results of these 50k plus kids were over 30, 35 or worse, 40? Let's keep playing the what/if game.

Opinion | I’m an E.R. Doctor in Michigan, Where Unvaccinated People Are Filling Hospital Beds

I thought this ER MD commentary from Michigan was insightful.

I’m an E.R. Doctor in Michigan, Where Unvaccinated People Are Filling Hospital Beds

Recently a patient in his 70s came seeking care at the small rural hospital in West Michigan where I’ve worked as an emergency physician for two decades. He had tested positive for the coronavirus earlier in the week, was running a high fever and struggled to breathe. When asked if he’d been vaccinated, he snapped back, “I don’t approve of the vaccine.”

A few days later, a young patient sick with Covid-19 was admitted with dangerously low blood oxygen levels. His spouse and infant child came in to say goodbye just before he was sedated and intubated. “I don’t think I’ll see you again,” he said. He died before the end of the week. He was unvaccinated.

As of last Monday, nine hospitals in Michigan were 100 percent full, and at least 20 others were at or above 90 percent capacity. Statewide, nearly one in four hospital patients has a confirmed or suspected case of Covid-19. In the last few weeks, my hospital has been consistently at or near capacity and nearly every day the vast majority of those patients are sick with Covid-19. Nearly all have been unvaccinated.

Like in the rest of Michigan, an overwhelming majority of patients in our hospital are unvaccinated, including 98 percent of acute critical care patients.

Big uptick in patients at the covid clinic the past 2 weeks. Still not busy like August September when we we're treating 2 to 3 hundred a day but nearly double what we were doing the prior few weeks. Also of note while most are still unvaccinated it is the first time I can say we are also seeing many people who were vaccinated. More so than any other time for whatever reason.

Hopefully for the vaccinated folks they are starting to track how long it's been since their last shot.

we keep seeing this from med pros. Hospitals are full of the unvaxed. It’s truly sad seeing people cling to life and dying with their last thought on how easy it would have been to prevent and spare their life. With a easy and free shot……

This explains the politics of this virus. Dr. Rob Davidson who wrote this piece about two small hospitals he is affiliated with (zeeland I saw either 55 or 58 beds and united 88 beds) is an ER doctor who believes in universal healthcare and has run and lost his bid for congress. Should there be concern in rural west Michigan? Probably. More so there should be caution most likely as they are dealing with a surge. But a doctor who is political and uses the experience of two people to push a narrative...should be taken with a grain of salt if you ask me. The data does not support that nearly all the people in the hospital are unvaccinated. That said...small hospitals can easily go against the data. In either direction for that matter.

Unlike the reality that betting on the vaccinated spreading is not a good proposition. How much do you want to bet that both his patients one young and one old had comorbidities? :)
