show me where i said a democrat caused covid in new york, it was the policies of the entire state legislature that mandated masks and yes, the democratic mayor of nyc shut down the city and yet it still did not work, guess desantis was not so dumb after all in opening the state up, banning mask mandates, oppossing forced vaccinations, etc.

I see it on campus quite a bit, too. Hopefully for every d-bag, there are 10 people wearing them properly. On our campus, it's quite apparent that the athletes have the worst masking behaviors.

 

So your argument is that the Florida spike is 3x as high as the New York spike, but Florida has the right policy? Do you want 3x as much Covid during spikes?

 

april through june another 31.7 million. so for the 6 months june-september at almost 64 million in half a year, so 100 million for the year seems low, nice try there,i am sure that many visited new york with a locked down nyc.

 

So wait, wasn't your explanation for the Florida spike an argument about spiking tourism? If this is the background noise/normal, how did Florida end up with such a high spike in August? The tourists driving from low Covid places to Palatka all brought it with them in August but not May?

 

well since cases have dropped 95% since august 27 on a daily basis and have increased 10% daily in vaccinated, masking, locked down new york, yeah i think florida has the right policy.try as you want, the massive difference in the numbers over the past 3 months will not go away, unlike, it seems, covid cases in florida

 

So did Florida change policies from when cases increased by 1,400% in August? Or did they have the right policy too as their cases increased by 1,400%?

schools were in session all over the country in may, foreign travel was restricted in may, so yeah fewer tourists were around to spread it, although the 31.7 million number might indicate otherwise, still not almost total freedom to come visit florida w/o obligations like school like from june to september.

 

Strange, because you are arguing against the numbers that you provided. You are saying tourism was restricted, and yet, it happened at just about the same pace (less than a 5% difference). Why?

 

After having hands down the highest infection and hospitalization rates in the country, the disease ravages and mostly exhausts itself in FL, and now they cry WINNING!

 

I think the issue those who were dogging on FLORIDA were identifying other states as "WINNING!" It's all political nonsense. This is just another round of tit-for-tat, and when FLORIDA cycles up again, we'll hear it back again the other way. At the end of the day, show me where in our country the death rates are significantly different based on age. Show me where, in our country, that people who wanted a vaccine weren't able to get access to it.

No most of these other states were much lower rates due to various restrictions and higher vaccination rates. It wasn't just a crap shoot.

 

People are ultimately responsible for their own choices. But in NY, for whatever reason, a higher percentage of people are making the smart responsible choice than in Florida. And fewer people are dying in NY than in FL since the vaccine became widely available. Why do you think that is?

 

funny, florida has a higher vaccination rate than 38 other states, including, believe it or not, sleepy joe's deleware, so yeah, lets blame it on low vaccination.

 

So why is West Virginia (41.5% fully vaccinated) currently doing better than New Mexico (63.3%). There's a lot more at play than restrictions and vaccination rates.

Certainly a lot of political nonsense. But I think FL gets rightly dogged for RD's foolishness over banning state entities from requiring masks, and for taking a broadly hostile position to public safety. Also, we hear alot about freedom and personal choice, but don't consider that the rest of us should have freedom from irresponsible people spreading this disease and killing others and themselves.

The lowest rates are:

There is a pretty strong relationship between age adjusted Covid deaths and vaccination rates. I ran just a simple bivariate regression and the coefficient is -4.18, which means that a 1% increase in Covid vaccination rates is associated with 4.18 fewer age-adjusted deaths per 100,000. A lot of endogeneity there, but it is a pretty strong and unsurprising effect.

 

Right now. But from the beginning, public health experts have warned about multiple waves. Literally every state, and every country with substantially large populations, and the world as a whole, have experienced multiple waves of community spread of the disease.
