Many, many lives would have been saved, we might have been spared Delta, and we might have rebounded by now had the Pub admin. not bungled the message, confused its base with HCQ, bleach and worm medicine, and focused on a vaccinated herd immunity from the start. Now we're stuck with low info posters that repeat lies, and misconceptions even though they have been proven wrong repeatedly. Morons that have all had multiple vaccinations politicized this one at the selfish cost of American lives. Shameful.

Good grief…Trump gave you these drugs in record time. While he believes in freedom he suggests taking them. Delta was out before these drugs ever had a chance unfortunately. And as it turns out they do not work against delta very well at all. So unfortunately it would not have mattered.

Where we agree is that this has been politicized. Where we disagree is by whom.

The Pfizer vaccine was first to be tested and approved, and didn't receive a dime of Operation Warp Speed money. It's false to credit Trump with getting the vaccine in record time. It would have, and did happen without any of Trump's help.

Trump also made many mistakes when dealing with COVID. Remember, "It's only 15 cases...soon to be zero?" How about bleach and UV lights? Or the admission that he purposely downplayed the virus because Trump was more worried about the economy? Or not wearing a mask until after Trump himself tested positive? Or the superspreader Amy Coney Barret announcement event? Not to outdone by the OK superspreader rally later on?

As for the Delta variant, it didn't become dominant in the US until July. The vaccine was made open to all 18 and older in April, and to all 12 and older in June. Had everyone eligible been vaccinated when they could be vaccinated, Delta would have still hit us, but the impact would have been significantly less.

 

lets face facts. there are 2 camps, pro-trump and anti-trump, and to quote the phrase, never the 2 shall meet. people here will not listen to others, too damn afraid to be wrong. did trump make mistakes,yes. did biden, yes. neither was 100% right, and neither was 100% wrong, people need to get over who was and was not responsible.

 

Nobody in politics is going to be 100% right on everything, but I’ll be dammed if a guy cant get closer to a 0% rating on a topic then Trump on COVID.

Trump got the vaccine. After having caught a bad case of COVID and having had monoclonals in the early (experimental) days of that treatment. So, let’s hold up his example to the anti vax right wingers. And let’s not rip him for this; in his speeches, he tells people to get vaccinated. I may despise the guy, but he is right on this issue.

 

Why is this permitted per board rules? Is it not name-calling?

Trump has actually recommended people to get vaccinated. I know the one time he did it and was actually booed for it, which just floored me that they even boo'd the recommendation from him. Maybe he's said it a few more times. I just think he plays both sides, which is what he typically does. Can't give a guy credit when he's playing things both ways or even pandering to the misinformation set. He really created alot of the distrust people have, he's amplified and partnered with the very people that spread misinformation online. Maybe the right wing anti-vaccine thing just got so bad it's out of his control, but i don't think his recommendation was particularly forceful either. He almost says it like he's joking.

People call posters "lazy" and "uninformed" all the time. Does that bother you as well?

Interesting that Florida ranks 20th in the U.S. in percent of population fully vaccinated, yet for last weekly numbers, ranks 1st in states with lowest per capita new case rate.
As someone who is 'boostered up', i don't see the point of firing people who have had covid and don't want the vaccine. The original purpose of vaccines was for immunity, now it's changed to 'protection', because the vaccine doesn't provide immunity. For people who have had covid, the virus is no longer 'novel' to them. If I were a health care worker, I would want the shot, however health care workers who have been working around covid patients since way back when and are healthy, IMO, no need to fire them. It's far better to put in additional incentives for people to get vaccinated than to fire them for not getting vaccinated. I believe it's extreme government overreach.

Trump made mistakes for sure. No one could perfectly manage something like this. His biggest mistake was not firing fauci. But he was as quick as anyone would have been at the federal level to change with what was happening.
