Myocarditis is rare in both the vaccinated and those kids who get the disease. It's rarely dangerous, and the overwhelming majority of cases go away with simple rest and observation. In fact, there are likely many undiagnosed cases that happen every year.

The chances of your kids catching COVID, especially with Delta, over the next 12 - 18 months is nearly 100% if they are unvaccinated. Maybe if you home school them and never let them outside, but we know you aren't doing this. So either way, you are going to be exposing your kids to a myocarditis risk; either form COVID, or the vaccine. And the vaccine has a lower risk.

Cases are up in the UK, but you know what hasn't risen along with cases? Hospitalizations. That's because the vaccine works! And there are some theories why cases are rising in the UK. One is the vaccination rates have slowed to a crawl, and there are still enough unvaccinated to allow the virus to circulate freely. There is also waning immunity, both in the vaccinated and previously infected that could be a potential factor. The UK is boostering up the elderly, which in Israel, helped slow a recent spike. And remember, the UK first tried the natural herd immunity route, which means a lot more UK residents got COVID in the early days. It's possible their natural immunity is waning, though we don't know how many people in this group took the jab.

no, you are doubling the risk. Even if you get vaccinated you can still get Covid and get myocarditis. That’s the problem with the vaccine, it’s not full proof

Hint for future reference: "expected" and "rare" are not mutually exclusive. Multiple studies ( pointed out earlier and often) bring into question aspects of the UK study. Of course you die on that hill --- believe what you need to. NI efficacy is not a narrative, it simply is not decided. It also is a completely different "narrative" than vaxing 5-11 yo. Your constant moving goalposts when your argument is shot down is telling.

In fairness, it is not my job to risk this unknown in my children to protect my parents. They would agree by the way, and my parents were vaccinated at the very start (after a bit of pushing on my part).

My parents believe that their vax protects them and dont want my 11 year old getting the vax just to protect them.

They will be exposed vaccinated or unvaccinated. This drug is not going to stop them from getting Covid. If there was a real benefit to the drug then maybe. It will be real interesting if they try to mandate this in schools. As the flu is actually more dangerous to my kids than Covid. And they only get the flu shot if we happen to be at the doctors office when they are in. We do not go out of the way for that. In fact the last time they got the flu shot my middle got flu A and gave it to me. My first experience with the flu.

The "high" case rates in those places generally were associated with Delta, which was 3 times as tranmissible, as well as relaxing restrictions. In spite of those things, the second round in these places were less than the initial wave. The logical answer to that is due to vaccination and natural immunity.

It fascinates me that you continue to want to discount natural immunity. Not only does natural immunity actually provide a from of protection but it is showing that it likely slows the spread as reinfections are extremely rare. Unlike break throughs.

You believe what you want. The data shows that reinfections are extremely rare. And it also shows that break throughs are quite common.

    That is just reality.

Natural immunity yes. Vaccine not so much. If you are a Packers fan...enjoy the game without your star QB this week (latest of famous people like Psaki and her family whom the vaccine did not help in the slow of the spread). ;):)

    vax-unvax case rate cdc.JPG

My comment was drawn from the data. Case rate for unvaxxed is nearly 6x that of vaxxed. Worse for hospitalizations and deaths for unvaxxed, as has been pointed out several times recently, including by me.

Sorry that you don't like anti-vaxxers being called selfish, but the shoe fits and that means it hurts others around them.

Natural immunity isn't the savior you want it to be. We keep promoting the vaccine because you can safely administer a vaccine. You can't safely administer natural immunity.

Not everyone who popped a "positive" covid test has natural immunity. Remember 95 ranting about 40 cycle PCR tests and how that's not a real covid infection? For those that truly had covid, we don't know exactly how long their natural immunity will last - it will probably vary quite a bit depending on the person. But we can give a vaccine that has proven to be very effective for 6 months, and we can provide a booster to address any concerns of waning effectiveness. For the vast majority of the population, the vaccine is still the safest path forward.

You can ignorantly call people selfish all you want. You are wrong. But you certainly can choose to do so.

Just look at Public Health England data. The majority of cases are vaccinated. It is just reality.

Yep. Another reason the PCR threshold should’ve been 27-30 max. Too many false positives. But a simple antibody test will show who has natural immunity and who doesn’t.
