because he is a media addicted person, so long w/o people knowing who he was he cannot let go, had more than his 15 minutes of fame, time to stop trying to act like he is the only voice people should listen to, there are others with opinions also.

Not all opinions are equal. For example, when he said that there was a spike coming in the fall last year and you flipped out and started trying to bet people that we would never hit 100K cases, whose opinion was correct? And whose opinion would seem to be based on a lifetime of knowledge about infectious diseases?

Ehhh . . . . the real data are available if you seek it. These drugs do not work as advertised. I know this because a person named QGator gave us the facts. Plus Q has a boyish figure and likes to shop at Hobby Lobby, so the truths are evident. :emoji_upside_down::emoji_upside_down:

my point on fauci is that he, the media, and most of the country believe he is the one and only person that should be able to talk about covid, he is by far not the only knowledgeable person in the country on this, yet he is seen as all-knowing, others are hardly recognized for their opinions.99.99% of the people had no idea who he was 18 months ago, now they hang on his every word about covid, can kids trick or treat, can we have thanksgiving and christmas, he acts like his word is gospel, it is not.

There are many doctors that appear regularly in media sources. He get special attention because he is head of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases and we are currently experiencing a large scale infectious disease.

This is not even close to my perception. I haven't been able to really get my hands around the Fauci hate, other than those pro Trumpers who basically hated anyone who didn't parrot Trumps narrative.

It's obvious that adults should be vaccinated. The risks of being vaccinated are much lower than the risks of not being vaccinated both for the individual and those around the individual. The vaccine reduces transmission and reduces the likelihood of serious illness, hospitalization and death.

If there were no punishment for drunk driving, there would be a lot more drunk driving and there would be more traffic deaths as a result. A very big reason people don't drive drunk is fear of getting a DUI. If there is no punishment (say, losing your job) for not being vaccinated, fewer people would get vaccinated and there will be more covid deaths as a result.

And to put it into perspective drunk driving causes around 10,000 deaths per year. Covid killed 385,000 people in the US last year.

    1. It isn't ambiguous, at all.
    2. You are creating a false narrative that there is a material vaccine risk to be balanced against the benefits of the vaccine. The vaccine risk is pretty neglible
    3. You continue to call for information that is not needed, or is maybe already out there, that if you actually had would not change your vaccine hesitant narrative
    4. Like all vaccine hesitant and anti vaxxers you ignore community / herd immunity benefits of the vaccine.

Right, to you it's not because you think everybody should get it. Surely you can see another perspective where the actual need relative to the individual is taken into consideration.

I've stated many times that I'm not concerned about the risk of the vaccine (although I don't discount the potential issue that there may be with one). You see the question as "what's the harm?" I see the question as "why is it necessary?" Just a different way to approach life. But be fair; let's not make up false narratives.

I understand your suspicion that additional data won't change any skeptic's minds provided that the information strongly supports a productive vax result for all parties. What I don't understand is your confidence in your suspicion. Some of you seem to be passionate about not wanting more data to produced. Ask yourself, what could it hurt? Why not give it a try and see if your suspicion is correct?

And you ignore those who have acquired some level of immunity by having had COVID alone (see #1 above). The selling point of a vaccine should not be for my neighbor's protection, it should be for my protection; that's the point of all the other vaccines, no? That it may also benefit my neighbor should be a secondary consideration.

It's two pronged: to protect the individual and the community. This is the driving concept behind herd immunity, which with very high levels of vaccinated means not only that vaccinated are protected but that the small number of unvaccinated are as well. On the flip, the less vaccinated, the more spread and more breakthroughs that occur. Also, when herd immunity is achieved (though it's always imperfect), you'll sometimes see a statistical phenomenon whereby more vaccinated get x virus than unvaccinated.

The goal of any vaccine is herd immunity. Get enough of the population vaccinated and all are protected. Including the immunocompromised, who may not be able to take the vaccine. Herd immunity is their only chance at protection.

To claim vaccines are only about the individual is false. It's why vaccines have been mandated before. Drop below herd immunity levels, and the disease is likely to return. Like measles did in CA in 2016, or WA in 2018 thanks to anti-vaxx crazies. The best way to ensure herd protection are mandates.
