Nope. Anyone thinking these 2 are the same isn't reading the article. Hence my comparison of UCF to UVA.

    UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT

Students are required to be vaccinated, but the school has been lenient with those opposed to getting the shots. It has granted over 800 exemptions without denying a single request, no matter the reason.

    UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA

Students who don’t comply with a school vaccine mandate or apply for a religious or medical exemption have been kicked out.

Near the start of the semester, 193 students had been unenrolled for not getting the shots, according to Dr. Christopher Holstege, director of student health and wellness.

You can make comparisons between the universities. But I would warn against drawing any definitive conclusions. Too many variables. For example, the size of the city each college is located. Storrs, CT has just 16,000 residents, versus 47,000 in Charlottesville, and 281,000 in Orlando. Another variable is where on the Delta timeline is each city. In a small town in the exponential growth phase of Delta, students are likely to be exposed to Delta. In contrast, in a larger city on the downslide of Delta might have a different story.

Point is, three schools is nowhere near enough to draw conclusions. Probably need to look at dozens if schools to really get a better understanding of what is going on.

I haven't bothered to follow the argument. I just don't trust any UCF data. Period.

What do you think the UConn exemptions are? Medical and religious. Just like every other school doing mandates. And no schools are turning down exemptions (nobody wants to get sued). UVA kicked out the people that neither filed for an exemption nor filed that they had the shot (many of whom weren't enrolled in classes anyway, which suggests that they were already leaving the University). That is why both are at 97% compliant, which is pretty standard for Universities that are engaging in mandates.

Take up your argument with the AP writer. If you can't see that one school was portrayed as being lenient and one strict then I can't help you. One school is quoted as letting every exemption pass and the other school unenrolling 193 students.

On the college data, why only mention case data, why not hospitalization data? Those numbers seem pleasantly low all around.

No, we all know why you chose to omit UConn.

The AP writer included UConn. You chose to withhold it (without even mentioning it).

Good God. Maybe you should start a separate thread on the uconn/uva/ucf study. Perhaps even a separate subforum.

    Dead horses are needlessly suffering.

Or maybe you should start a separate thread about the flogging of dead horses in this thread.

Don't believe Moderna had applied for expansion of authorization to include a third shot yet, only Pfizer.

65+, doctors, nurses, first responders, teachers and then anyone at "high-risk for severe disease", which is about 40% of America.

Also, this vote was coming at the exact same time that the CDC released a study showing exactly what Pfizer was warning about. After 4 months, protection from hospitalization decreased from 91% to 77%.

77% seems low. Most everything I've seen even with Delta is around 88%, except for over 80 years was like 80%.
