As demand skyrockets, Biden administration caps shipments of COVID-19 antibody treatment

Federal health officials are setting Florida’s weekly supply of monoclonal antibody treatments at 30,950 doses, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Florida’s state clinics and private providers have been ordering about 72,000 doses a week, Pushaw said. About 36,000 doses are required weekly to supply the state clinics, she said.

“We didn’t get any notice or time to prepare for this — neither did any providers in Florida,” Pushaw said. “We were blindsided by this and the deficit is pretty significant, but it is the governor’s priority to make sure we fill that gap.”

Health care providers and states are no longer able to order the drug from the federal government. Instead, states will get a weekly allotment based on infection and hospitalization rates.

i find it stupid to lump up to 4 weeks of deaths under 1 day, makes it look worse than it is, why not just report the number of deaths w/o specifing a day?

also there are 12 states averaging more deaths per million than florida, again, more people equals more cases and more deaths.

I find the NYT numbers more useful, the go on a 7 day moving average.

Coronavirus in the U.S.: Latest Map and Case Count

Florida and Mississippi have a current per capita death rate 8-10 times higher than most of the top 10 best states, including NJ.

Take the 3.5 trillion package, cut it in half . then take the remaining 1.75 trillion divide it by 350 million citizens it works out to 5k for every person. Now write a bill giving every vaccinated person 5k stimulus. End of problem. We end up with economy being stimulated and most people getting vaccinated. Kids under 12, when they turn 12 and get vaccinated they get the money.

This is exactly why Florida's numbers are misleading. There are 12 states averaging more reported deaths per million than Florida. But look at how many deaths those states reported yesterday, and look at how many deaths Florida reported yesterday.

the low number of deaths reported say yesterday is not going to change the number per million overall any, if at all. florida currently reports 2293 deaths per million, adding 300 to yesterday does nothing to change that higher.

How do you figure that? If you add more deaths, the deaths per million for the pandemic increases....

When other states are reporting deaths in the 40s and 50s, and we are experiencing deaths in the 300s, yes, adding 300 yesterday, and the day before, and the day before, and the day before, and the day before, and the day before, and the day before, and the day before, and the day before is going to make a difference.

i did a test. i multiplied 2293 x 100, added 300 more deaths, divided by 100 and got 3 more deaths per day

Where Florida is concerned, it is unlikely that number will be the same 2 hours from now. The way that they have been hiding numbers, moving data sets from one database to another to make it difficult for the data science folks to even track, let alone accurately count, this is not surprising.

so, is the state backdating deaths and taking them off the day they were recorded? in other words, if 75 deaths recorded today are backdated to the day of actual death, not the recorded day do those deaths come of the recorded day?
