Every day here where I live.....I'm actually more at risk by drivers on their smart phones while driving than I am from getting cv19!

Where are the mandates when I need them!!!

 

It's always amazing how people will always have their own individual angle and argument to bolster their feelings. It's not a vaccine because the CDC *quietly* changed a word. That's among the dumbest assertions I've heard yet.

 

It is mandated by the government that people not do that.

Yup. And it's not as if such an uptick in breakthroughs and hospitalizations would be unexpected since that would assume that epidemiologists and other public health researchers basically knew nothing about infectious disease prior to covid

Section 316.305, Florida Statutes allows law enforcement to stop motor vehicles and issue citations to motorists that are texting and driving. A person may not operate a motor vehicle while manually typing or entering multiple letters, numbers or symbols into a wireless communications device to text, email and instant message.

Section 316.306, Florida Statutes, is a prohibition on using wireless communications devices in a handheld manner in school and work zone. A person may not operate a motor vehicle while using a wireless communications device in a handheld manner in a designated school crossing, school zone or active work zone area. Active work zone, as it pertains to Section 316.306, Florida Statutes, means that construction personnel are present or are operating equipment on the road or immediately adjacent to the work zone area.

 

I think the number is 47 states out of 50 permit at least religious exemptions from vaccines. FLORIDA's covers this in 1003.22 (3):

Notably, there is some haggling going on between "philosophical," "personal," and "religious" exemptions, but depending on how one worships, they are likely intertwined in some capacity. I doubt any government wants to take up the battle of interpreting of one's religion in that regard.

The way to win this war is not by force, that's an unwinnable battle that will just create a greater divide in our country. I'll continue to advocate for adult vaccinations, but I won't advocate for mandates, and unless our pediatrician changes her mind, I won't be advocating for children's vaccines (let alone mandates).

There's exemptions in the law for first responders and law enforcement. I asked a state trooper once why we aren't cracking down on this issue more and his reply was it's too much of a political issue - elected officials don't want to alienate themselves with the general public who are cell phone users while they drive.

 

This mandate stuff is weak sauce.

If they offered $1K to everyone who got the jab the lines would form up around the building in a New York Minute!

Think of the money the government would save.........

We just don't have creative thinkers in government. Private sector yes.....

Those are two different statutes. It is not "and," it is "or."

BTW, a lot of states outright ban using phones in handheld fashion at all. I wouldn't oppose Florida doing that.

 

And it's a county where 85% of the eligible population is vaccinated. So the 15% that is unvaccinated accounts for 60 to 70% of the hospitalizations.

Sure, if you can prove you had covid, you don't have to pay the tax. But a vaccination on top of having had covid already provides the most protection of all. And the easiest way to be sure is to just get vaccinated regardless of past covid.

 

Proving it is super easy. Sure, getting one vaccination is slightly better, but not like the huge advantage someone has of natural immunity compared to just being vaccinated. Not even close.

 

I know the answer to this one. NO

 

As has already been posted, there is some evidence that hybrid exposure (having had covid and then getting vaccinated) leads to super immunity. I see no reason not to get vaccinated regardless of past covid.

 

Got you. It is okay for one group to spread the virus but not another.
