    Required vaccines for most schools:

    The DTaP (diphtheria- tetanus-pertussis),
    Poliovirus
    MMR (measles-mumps-rubella),
    Varicella
    Hepatitis B

The American people have changed, not the gov’t.

Smokers, people who abuse alcohol and chronic over eaters are at least punished through health care premiums. I think every single employer and insurer needs to do what Delta Airlines did by imposing a add-on to health care premiums ($200/month increase in the case of Delta) for unvaccinated employees. You have made your choice and no one can change your mind, but you should definitely have to pay a greater part of health care costs.

The largest employer(our govt) doesn’t punish people thru health care premiums. Everyone else subsidizes them. And the vast majority of companies in the US don’t charge more if you are overweight or a drinker or a smoker even.

On average, if you smoke are over weight or acknowledge excessive alcohol consumption life insurance premiums are 150% higher. The ACA of 2014 prevent health insurers from charging higher for being overweight or alcohol consumption (they simply raise everyone's rates equally), but can and do for smoking. On average premiums are as much as 50% higher for smokers.

Also, within one week of the policy at Delta Airlines the percentage of employees vaccinated went from 72% to 78%. I would love to see some follow up data.

Money talks......employers and government should use it as a big stick to get us out of this mess.

Do you honestly not get the threat of infectious disease to a population? Of course the healthier are likely to have better outcomes, but the healthier are still infectious if they catch the disease and can spread it to the less healthy driving up #s of sick and dead.

In trying to insinuate obesity and smoking into this discussion, faiap you're using the opposite of what you support since both are more a parallel examples to covid except that neither is acute or infectious as covid is.

They have access to your medical records you know.....including all of the cr@p doctors put into their notes that they never tell you about. It is not that difficult for a doctor or nurse to pick out a smoker. Heck, it is not that difficult for me to pick them out.

We aren’t talking life insurance. The Govt doesn’t do any of this that you are talking about. When they do it then I’ll care. The things you are saying are what some companies are doing, not all or most. It’s not the norm.

And that is why the vaccine. It teaches the immune system to deal with the virus without actually getting infected. As a kid, I was always sick with fevers. Back then, they didn’t understand immunities as much. But, as an adult, I rarely get fevers/flus. My system recognizes diseases because it saw them when i was a kid. I Had a fever in January 2020 that was flu like and I tested negative for the flu. No idea what it was.

Not equally. If it were, we wouldn't be seeing such lopsided differences in the number of infected unvaxxed vs vaxxed.

The government charges enormous sales taxes for tobacco. So how about we just tax the unvaccinated?

Don’t you mean just taxing the people who get COVID, while they have it? That would include vaccinated and unvaccinated.

In Maryland 30-40% of those hospitalized are vaccinated. Not very lopsided. I still think there are too many unknowns about this virus. I like my immune system. I like it even more after I got Covid last month, and recovered. It’s a personal choice, and we shouldn’t tax, or jack up premiums, for those that choose not to get the vaccine on a virus with an extremely high survival rate. We still have choice in this country right? It’s scary that Biden has gone full authoritarian.
