Oh my! I just did a search on Google with this "flu deaths 2019 Italy".

    science direct.com
    A.Rosario

If you want to be stunned! literally stunned then do the search and locate the report by A.Rosario. The actual numbers of the past 4 years and the demographics really make this virus look like a massive distortion.
    Perspective indeed!

Fact is the WHO is leaving out very important facts regarding why Italy is showing higher death numbers. They have had over 68000 deaths in 4 years due to the flu and just this January was in the middle of a record breaking flu season for infections and deaths. So while everyone is looking and basing trends of their virus numbers as a freak thing there are serious comparable issues with the flu occurring at the same time. Seems to me that is pretty important facts being left out.

The IRS is the only agency in govt, where if you hire an additional agent, it results in a positive ROI for the govt.

Never understood why a "normal" person would want to limit the IRS enforcement to the point it couldn't do it's job, cutting the IRS actually INCREASES the deficit because it reduces their overall ability to enforce the law. They are basically considered law enforcement. Their mission is to go after tax crooks. I always imagine the GOP wanted to weaken them to make it easier for their pals to do crooked tax avoidance schemes and money laundering. A law abiding small business owner shouldn't have to worry about them, and a salaried worker would have have nothing at all to worry about as those tax filings are usually very simple (barring some unusual event or side business).

Just something to keep an eye on

March 1st Global closed cases (discharged/recovered vs deaths) rounded
    94% vs 6%

    March 21st
    88% vs 12%

Now IDK how they are coming up with these numbers. Since they say discharged/ recovered, I assume these are only people that have been admitted to hospital and not including mild cases that are self isolating.

A longer time line is needed to see how these numbers bear out.

Ok since the numbers on that worldometer site are so wonky until about 11:00 PM EST I won't be checking until then. It confused the hell out of me yesterday. Thanks for the heads up @gator_fever

    Some interesting thoughts

Coronavirus Will Change the World Permanently. Here’s How.

A global, novel virus that keeps us contained in our homes—maybe for months—is already reorienting our relationship to government, to the outside world, even to each other. Some changes these experts expect to see in the coming months or years might feel unfamiliar or unsettling: Will nations stay closed? Will touch become taboo? What will become of restaurants?

But crisis moments also present opportunity: more sophisticated and flexible use of technology, less polarization, a revived appreciation for the outdoors and life’s other simple pleasures. No one knows exactly what will come, but here is our best stab at a guide to the unknown ways that society—government, healthcare, the economy, our lifestyles and more—will change.

Apparently, their number of serious or critical cases has been fixed. For the last several days it remained static at 64 while the number of total cases was increasing exponentially. This morning the number was 708. Interestingly the number of total cases was slightly lower this morning (26,909) than last night (just above 27,000).

Not gonna read thru all the back and forth, but Tilly, how do you reconcile the above statement with the below from this morning? I guess my axiom would be "hope for the best and plan for the worst".

You must be a bot with the different sites you go to making this stuff up. Noone tested because there aren’t enough kits. I cannot say this strongly enough: the absence of sufficient tests skews the numbers and was done so people like you can lie. And your lies are dangerous. Fortunately here, nobody believes you. But you are dangerous on other places you go where people believe you. You are not a scientist, Doctor, epidemiologist, and do not have a rudimentary understanding of anything except what the fringe right conspiracy theorists and Russian sources you rely on spread. Here, all you are is a good foil to rebut the conspiracy theories. Edit: Meanwhile, beware of fear too. I edited my post to delete something that was in it that has been debunked. Video that warns of rampant spread of coronavirus in Kiryas Joel debunked by officials

Finally, Dr. Fauci can admit publicly what we have all been watching daily and have been speculating about....he IS having to tread carefully with what he says, very carefully.

They are not hospitalizing people who are even running high fevers. Just the very sever cases. And most are not getting tested. The numbers do not tell us anything

Sorry buddy. When someone spreads dangerous information, they need to be called on it. In a clear way.
