Why are you so locked in to masks don't work, at all? In a seemingly reasonable but not perfect study that shows a benefit you throw every conceivable reason that it may not be right. But to prove your own point, you don't even present a study, you present graphs of two completely different states and that convinces you they do nothing

 

IF masks worked we would have a simple comparison whether its a country, state, or other sample of population. We also have had RCT's that show masks don't work. I for the life of me don't understand how we went from the consensus before 2020 that masks don't work to now they work. There is zero data showing that they work. Vaccine up and move on with life. That simple. Those that choose to not get the vaccine, well that's on them.

The single RCT about masks you have posted so far explicitly says in its text that your interpretation of the study is incorrect.

 

The RCT study shows mask only have marginal benefit for the person wearing it. The study does not look at overall effect of a significant percentage of people wearing a mask properly has on the spread of COVID. The Bangladesh study, on the other hand, does exactly that. And it shows when 30% of the people wear a mask properly, the spread of COVID is reduced in that area by 10%.

As mask is not a motorcycle helmet designed to protect you in the case you get into an accident. A mask helps you from spreading the virus should you be infected by stopping a significant amount of said virus from entering the air around you. We should still all be wearing masks, especially with Delta, which has shown to be transmissible even by those vaccinated, who are asymptomatic. It is possible that I have COVID right now, even though I'm fully vaccinated. If I wear a mask out to the grocery story, it won't do a damn bit a good for me, but could prevent a grocery store worker from contracting the virus, and taking it home with him/her. And that's why I wear a mask.

Which lines up with with what the vice president of AAP and the head of the CDC said. Delta doesn't result in more severe illness for kids, but it does result in more illnesses for kids.

 

Problem with that data is doesn’t differentiate between With and because of Covid. Huge difference. Also doesn’t account for RSV.

 

Nope. Been over this before. The RCT does show masks have almost zero efficacy. Go back to when the study came out. I talked about it then.

It's doubtful RSV alone would result in the current rise in pediatric hospitalizations. But COVID+RSV could mean trouble for kids. From this article:

“About 10 to 15 percent of children can have more than one respiratory pathogen detected at the same time,” Lighter told Healthline.

Fisher is concerned about the recent uptick in kids being diagnosed with both RSV infection and COVID-19.

“I am very worried about this issue, and we are working diligently to find out why these cases are on the rise and what we can do to slow this alarming trend,” Fisher said.

Younger kids, like toddlers and infants, who develop both infections may have a more severe illness than if they had only contracted one virus, according to Lighter.

RSV is an annual virus, that usually hits hardest in the fall and winter. Never, in modern history, has RSV caused so many kids to get this sick so early in the year. Nor has RSV caused so many in recent years to end up in the hospital. But when you look at the total number of kids with COVID, the story becomes clearer. Even if the kid was only diagnosed with RSV to begin with, the fact he/she also has COVID is a very likely factor why that kid ended up in the hospital.

 

Only looks at the wearer of the mask, not those around the wearer of the mask. Masks are meant to protect others. Your study doesn't measure that and thus is of little use in assessing whether masks are effective or not.

 

Too bad you don’t pay to belong to the insider board (the Den) so you could see that the pulmonologists who posted on the mask threads there l thought Of the entire “with COVID” discussion. According to them, That is classic conspiratorial disinformation and it angers them.

 

Have no idea what you are talking about. Covid is real. Luckily it doesn’t affect kids hardly at all. Anyone over 18 get vaccinated. Masks don’t work. That’s all. Move on with life.

 

Just looked at the current covid rates per million people. 9 of the 10 states with the most cases per million voted for Trump. 10 or the 10 states with fewest cases per million voted for Biden. I wonder why that is? Could it be that Trump voters are less likely to comply with things like mask-wearing and distancing?

 

Most people are selfish and wear a mask to protect themselves. If people like the teacher in CA who came to work sick because they thought a mask would protect others would use common sense, maybe we would have less Covid spread. But nope, we have idiots in this world.

Sure, will do. Those numbers aren't going to change too much. It was that way before the delta spike too. Red states have higher covid rates than blue states.
