Notice how FL is missing from that dataset? Embarrassing.

And you continually accuse people wearing masks of virtue signaling?

True, but caloric restriction is difficult to maintain over time. Unless you can reduce the appetite, caloric restriction is extremely difficult to do over a long period of time. The primary benefit that Ketogenic diets have over caloric reduction is it is natural. Your appetite is naturally suppressed. You can cook all the carb-laden food you want in front of me and it does nothing to me. Now if I'm doing caloric restriction, I'm going out of my mind (and I have many times). I have to leave or else I end my caloric restriction. On Keto, there are a ton of benefits, anti-inflammatory, reduction in insulin resistance, etc. The biggest one for me was insulin resistance. Most Americans are insulin resistant. It's why 7 out of 10 people will eventually either become diabetic or at least be pre-diabetic. Most Americans have an insulin level that never drops until they go to sleep. The idea of 3 meals a day is antiquated. There's no basis for eating 3 meals. Worse, some diets have you eat 6 meals a day and that sets up the body for insulin resistance because your insulin spikes every time you eat, even one peanut will spike insulin. So over time, it takes more and more insulin to offset the sugar in your blood. I have been on IF for a year and I eat 2 meals a day. That's all I need, no snacking in between, no sugar cravings, no raiding the frig at night. When my wife cooks food for the family, she doesn't have to worry about tempting me because it does nothing to me. I couldn't say that when I was doing low fat or calorie-restriction.

Just got the call, my 66 year old brother passed away this morning at the Covid ward in North Fl Reginald. He was not vaccinated.

I'm so sorry for your loss. 66 years old + Covid is playing Russian Roulette. I've asked my wife to get it but she's still resistant and it doesn't help she didn't get it from me. She should have, no way she could have not gotten this. 3 days sleeping with me, eating next to each other, etc while I was symptomatic. Delta too. Maybe being vaccinated helped keep it to myself? I hear the vaccinated are just as capable of giving it to others as the unvaccinated. It's all I can think of but it's her choice. The stats say 1% of those who get Covid, die from Covid. But even the minor sickness is anything but. And that doesn't include the moderate symptoms that put you at the verge of going to the hospital and even then you are looking at 3 to 4 weeks of being sick.

No more difficult than maintaining the Keto diet over time. In fact studies have shown that Keto is one of the worst when it comes to adherence.

Keto is just another form of caloric restriction no different than any other diet.

Any diet that reduces bodyweight will reduce inflammation. Including high carb low-fat diets. Inflammation is a hallmark of high calories.

If insulin was the problem then why do studies examining the ketogenic diet vs a high carb diet show no difference in fat loss even though insulin was significantly higher on the high carb diet? A review of the carbohydrate-insulin model of obesity - PubMed

There is no evidence for the Carbohydrate -Insulin Model as shown in the latest rigorous review: Carbohydrates, insulin, and obesity | Science

Again, Keto doesn't do anything more special than any other diet. You do the diet that works best for you and it appears that Keto is best suited for you, not for everyone else.

    It's because they aren't looking at charts...and they don't always wear seatbelts...etc.

This is where you lose me. The words "no impact" are very strong. They stop droplets. Droplets contain the virus too.
In a conversation a lot or droplets are thrown around. Masks at least stop those, and even a small aerosol percentage.

They are no end all for sure.

I think of it like this.

Vaccine = Seatbelt, obeying speed limit.
    Social distancing = Airbag
Masks = Sliding your seat back to a safer distance from the wheel.

All 3 things contribute to safety, but one does more than the others.
    None make you invincible.

Florida is number 1 in the world. Hell of an accomplishment.

    Current top 5 cases/capita in the world for country/state population > 1M
    1. Florida 138/100,000
    2. Georgia (country) 121/100,000
    3. Louisiana 116/100,000
    4. Mississippi 115/100,000
    5. Botswana 89/100,000

Dumb take. It’s better to be fit and a smoker than overweight as you age. Does that mean you should smoke?

I do have to wonder how much tourism plays a roll. Our county here in NC just announced full mask mandates back in place Friday and we have done well. But it's a beach town and tourism seems to be driving it.

The MSM is doing their best to dissuade visitors from visiting Florida.

A near 20% positivity rate combined with a governor who refuses to do anything about it will do that.

The data is there since this thing began. It is pretty clear the mask has not effective at slowing the spread of Covid.

Yep. This delta variant is spreading at a crazy high rate. Mask or no mask. But hey...I bet you are not wearing one in the car or at home. But you are wearing one for the public to see. Maybe I am wrong and you wear one all the time?

The large droplets the mask might hold in do not stay in the air for a meaningful amount of time. And when you factor in human behavior there is no way the very few meaningful droplets they might hold in will make an effective difference. In fact the data might suggest that the overall effect could be negative. So you are correct that I probably should not have used "no impact". As it very likely could be a negative impact. Just look at the data and the curves for high compliant communities and compare with low compliant communities.

People just don't care. Daily I hear of parents sending their kids to school after they have been in close contact with someone that tested positive for COVID.
