I tested negative. It's a rapid antigen test, so I'm not sure of its accuracy, but at least have a measure of confidence that this is allergies or a summer cold.

Another one locally. Also have a 42 y/o friend in the hospital with wrecked lungs from covid. She has a fear of needles so she never got vaccinated. In the same hour I found out about her 2 more friends tested positive for it. Early stages of it now so no idea how hard they will get hit.

Telling my friends and a family member about all of these and in almost the same breath they expressed surprise and concern they brought up political anti mask rhetoric and dismissed the accuracy of hospital reports.

Who's an anti-vaxxer? Because i'm not. No idea what you are talking about. I posted about a study showing "long covid" in kids isn't a real thing.

 

The safest way is to get the vaccine first. After that you are unlikely to get covid or if you do get covid it is unlikely to be serious. You have no way of knowing how bad covid will hit you if you are unvaccinated.

 

Of the 274 vaccinated people who were infected, 4 required hospitalization and none died. Sounds pretty much like a win for the vaccine.

One other thing, that 74% number is BS. That is based on only the people who live in Provincetown or stayed in the area for testing. There were tens of thousands from all over the country. By 7/31, the total number of infected had risen to just below 1000 and we will never now what the real numbers actually were.

Wow, the Old “heavily flawed study” bit. That’s when you know there is no comeback from the data provided.

 

It’s obvious you didn’t because if you did you would see that the list of symptoms excludes important symptoms that are quite common in those with long COVID including children- particularly neuro-cognitive symptoms. There are many other limitations to the study for example among those sampled and found to be PCR positive, only 24% appear to have had information deemed complete enough for analysis. It also does not match up with the ONS long COVID study estimates. Could point out all the other issues with the data but since you failed to read the study you would have no clue what’s going on.

 

This is the goal for folks like DeSantis. To encourage behaviors that lead to this level of sickness (from the Baltimore Sun link).

Fortunately, none of us seems to be seriously ill. When fully vaccinated people experience so-called “breakthrough” infection, they tend not to progress to serious disease requiring hospitalization, and I expect that will be the case for us. But I can tell you that even a “mild” case of COVID-19 is pretty miserable. I’ve had fever, chills and muscle aches, and I’ve been weak enough that I can barely get out of bed. I don’t wish this on anybody.

 

A healthy 16 year old died today at Baptist Health in Jax. Get freaking vaxxed.
