How do you get your mind around it??
Risking DEATH over partisanship. Ignorance and stupidity.

Non Vaccinated should be put in a "crowded" concentration camp so they can enjoy the fullness of the disease and infect each other, ..........the rest of us want to beat the disease that's why we wear masks, obey rules and take vaccines.

Desantis and his ilk are just plain thugs and murderers'.

This would be funny if it were satire. Maybe Ron has a future with the Babylon Bee?

I struggle to wrap my brain around it. Easy to understand hesitancy at first. Longer this goes on, harder it is to understand. Anti-vaxx and freedomnistas are a different animal, especially the purveyors of disinfo bullshit. Mentioned earlier, data/evidence and shaming don't work to convince people. Seeming the only thing that might wake people up is fear after nearly dying or seeing others getting incredibly sick or dying.

It's why I keep posting these stories.

I get it. I have to channel mockery (or disgust) toward the purveyors of disinfo. But I'm increasingly aware of how reason and data do not work to change minds--people will still just dig in...regardless of tone or the absence of any intent to shame.

Kudos to this family for sharing their story (and thanks for posting it); I realize there's a financial incentive to sharing this story, but what matter most is the sharing. The less shaming that takes place, the less burden "humility" presents with having to own the fact that the disease can be a lot more potent than some people realize. As tempting as it may be, there's really no upside to mocking these people as it will only discourage other less severe sharing. Have discussions with folks, seek out their perspective of the upside of not getting vaccinated, but try not to approach people in an "us vs. you" kind of way. Have love and compassion for folks that may not be as aware as we'd like for them to be. Whenever possible, take the politics out of it, and try to objectively help people identify what they see as the upside of not getting vaccinated. As we discussed in the other thread, there will always be some folks that seem or may be unreachable in this regard. But it needs to be like eating an elephant (no pun intended!)...one bite at a time.

Here's an interesting study on hesitancy from last month:

Vaccine Hesitancy for COVID-19: State, County, and Local Estimates

(apologies if this has already been posted above, it's a big thread)

The numbers are actually seem much lower than I would have thought. Perhaps people aren't as forthcoming with their hesitancy, I'm not sure.

I have no problem with his expression for freedom. I wish he took the same approach with freeing the data so we could all get as accurate of a look as possible as to what is going on within our state. I shouldn't have to get text messages about our hospital's current situations. He's digging in in a way that is not unifying. There's a better approach to the current situation. This doesn't need to be the battle that it is being made out to be, and he has a significant role in reinforcing the current situation as a battle.

It's been shown that sanctioning people who violate social norms activates the same part of the brain that is activated by chocolate & sex.
