I think they are testing like wildfire because they finally actually have tests to administer to people who live in the most populated city in America with many residents who rode the country’s largest mass transit system and stood coughing on top of each other every day.

It’s not like they are testing more because more people are sick, more people are being found sick because they are testing more.

but like I said earlier, I hope you’re right.

You are crazy. SK has had intense testing for a month. They are considered the model for the rest of the world.

Special Report: How Korea trounced U.S. in race to test people for coronavirus

South Korea’s swift action stands in stark contrast to what has transpired in the United States. Seven weeks after the train station meeting, the Koreans have tested well over 290,000 people and identified over 8,000 infections. New cases are falling off: Ninety-three were reported Wednesday, down from a daily peak of 909 two weeks earlier.

The United States, whose first case was detected the same day as South Korea’s, is not even close to meeting demand for testing. About 60,000 tests have been run by public and private labs in a country of 330 million, federal officials said Tuesday.

Here is the answer that any president should give:

I would tell them that we are working night and day to keep them as safe as we can. We will not rest until this epidemic is over. I plan to do everything in my power to keep Americans healthy and help those who get sick recover. But we need to work together by staying apart. Practice social distancing. Visit the cdc website and listen to the experts. Stay home. Protect each other. We are here for you and we are doing everything we can.

    Is this really that hard???

so, in a nutshell, many more people are, or were infected than we know, but few, if any actually died, meaning the death rate is substanfully lowere
than the 1. 3 or so now.

Don’t waste your time not being informed. Those people do not feel the pain of others. They profit from it.

We don't know this yet. It's way too early to declare all those infected "in the clear". This disease is a looooong one.

We're not going to know what the death rate is until our medical resources start to get stressed. I hope that we do a good enough job flattening the curve that it doesn't happen, but if it does, that is what will cause the death rate to spike. We're in an early stage right now. We'll have to wait and see.

Coronavirus Cases Strain New York City Hospitals: ‘We’re Getting Pounded’

New York City hospitals are already straining under the onslaught of novel coronavirus cases, even as state officials say the real peak of the outbreak is nearly a month and a half away.

Doctors at the largest public hospital in New York say equipment shortages have resulted in them wearing the same masks for as long as a week. Emergency-room physicians at another hospital are having to reuse gowns. Some large hospitals already have exceeded the capacity of their intensive-care units.
