Go back and read how this "study" was debunked. It was propaganda to get parents to get their kids vaccinated. You obviously are a believer in said propaganda. Not shocked.

Call it what you want. I am NOT pushing it as the right thing for YOU. How can you not see the difference?
And I have added to the benefit by encouraging the vulnerable within my circle to get vaxed.

Regardless, I have yet to tell one single person here what they should do based on a single "what if". You know that, so you have moved on to free riderism and transgenders.

I'll call it what it is. You won't.

Free riderism doesn't require you to push other people to be free riders. In fact, it actually hurts you if they do. It diminishes the benefit that you are getting for free from others engaging in socially beneficial behavior.

You started talking about how we just need to go back to normal and told him to stop with "what ifs." You then shifted the goal posts to, "well, I didn't say anybody else should do anything." (setting aside that you actually did tell him to stop doing something). The issue here is that the only reason we can go back to normal is because many people didn't engage in free rider behavior.

Haven't participated much in this thread, or even followed it much lately...but...how's she coming against "THE thread"?

This one seems to have been around an awful long time, and apparently, still popping.

You are nowhere near where you started.

I support your right to vax. I encouraged my parents to do it. I have never encouraged anyone to chose either way outside of the ones I have encouraged TO GET the vaccine.

Call it what you want. I have never used my what ifs to push you. THAT was all I was talking about and you know you cant win, so you migrated.

    Here is your initial post:

Nothing in there about not pushing people to do something. Just about how we need to return to normal and how "we" need to accept the "what ifs as part of that normal." Which is itself telling somebody what to do. There is nothing in there about what you are discussing now.

As such, the migration accusation is pure projection on your part.

It was your post that started this entire exchange. How is that a "cherry pick?" It was literally the post that started this entire exchange, that I responded to, and in which you responded back. Come on now.

Because I dont view it that way. You cant pick one post and ignore everything I have said for the past however long. That is a cherry pick.

I have even restated for clarity my position several times today, (which you ignore) yet you want to harp on one post.

My issue has ALWAYS been trying to guilt people into vaxes based on obscure "what ifs". Some have been doing that since this thread reopened.
THAT is what I take issue with. Period. End of story.

You took one post and responded with transgender nonsense in your very next post.

employers now are allowed to require vaccination. read a story about a VP in charge of risk management at Houston hospital that was fired because he refused to get vaccine. If people refuse vaccine should they still get free PTO (up to 2 weeks) on top of normal time off if they become infected? Government should remove that requirement that they placed on businesses.

U.S. agency says employers can mandate COVID-19 vaccination | Reuters

U.S. companies can mandate that employees in a workplace must be vaccinated against COVID-19, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) said on Friday.

The EEOC, in a statement posted on its website explaining its updated guidance, said employees can be required to be vaccinated as long as employers comply with the reasonable accommodation provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act and other laws.

In addition, employers may offer incentives to workers to be vaccinated, as long as they are not coercive, it said.

The vast majority of employers have been reluctant to require workers to be vaccinated. A survey by management-side law firm Fisher Phillips earlier this year found that only 9% of the more than 700 employers surveyed said they were considering mandating vaccines.

Why would you take issue with it? If everyone did what you are doing many thousands of more people would be dying right now. You should be thankful that the people who have gotten vaccinated are giving you and others protection from illness and economic harm.

You made the post. I responded. Then you "migrated" (or as you are now framing the same thing, "restated for clarity"). You attacked a poster for "what ifs" and told him that "we" have to return to normal. You told him to do something. Now you are "migrating" to another point.

I took the post in which you did that and showed why it was a bad point using an example from this context and another. Then you tried to answer back with a different point. I answered that point and then you accused me of "migrating."

What would potentiality change your mind and get the vaccine?

The risk of being hit by lightning is very low. But would you ridicule my advise if I told you not to go out into the next thunderstorm in your area holding a 3-iron as high above your head as possible? So why is the advice to get vaccinated any different?

I can tell you it's different to me. If you do something stupid that doesn't effect me, bad enough. But COVID-19 is a pandemic, and the greater number of unvaccinated people the greater the risk of new variants. It's a true, public health issue that involves all of us.

More like a clerical error. Meant to include 'not' before promoting.

Not promoting getting the vax, while electing to oneself--free rider???

Why can't that just be an individual decision per one's freedom?

Why do you assume I am not thankful?
My issue is that he is not really offering any info that we haven't all heard and is using pretty low percentage obscure what ifs to push his point.

I get the angst towards conspiracy theorists, anti maskers etc for the past year, but the low numbers coupled with the fact that everyone who wants a vax can get one should give folks with reservations a bit of runway to see the FDA through to full approval imho.
