I think there are some statistical anomalies in Monday reporting. I looked at the Covid dashboard on my phone this morning. U.S. daily cases were about 940 and MN daily cases were about 450, nearly half the U.S. case count. I'm not claiming the zero deaths number to be an anomaly - I don't really know. Weekend reporting can be sketchy though.

In other news Fauci pivots once again...

"Dr. Anthony Fauci told the Poynter Institute on May 11 that he wasn't totally convinced that Covid-19 developed naturally and that he thinks that more investigation into the origin is needed. CNN's Natasha Bertrand and Kylie Atwood have more."

Dr. Fauci says he's 'not convinced' Covid-19 developed naturally (msn.com)

    And this...
"The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday that three WIV researchers became ill enough in November 2019 that they sought local hospital care, according to a previously undisclosed U.S. intelligence report, though officials expressed differing views over the strength of the evidence. In January, the State Department had said that several WIV researchers became sick in autumn 2019 “with symptoms consistent with both COVID-19 and common seasonal illness."

But that story has been debunked and belittled by any number of mainstream media outlets and fact checkers. He's now no more than a Qanon neanderthal...what gives?

99.9% of the people never heard of him before covid, now he is addicted to his 15 minutes of fame, always saying things if he is out of the limelight for a couple of days, he needs to go behind the curtain ala wizard of oz and not be payed attention to.

According to the to linked articles(particularly the one from the Journal) there seems to be quite a bit of questions that really have not been answered, China has not been been very forth coming(SHOCKING).

Hard to decide what's true when we don't have all the info, and I think that's what Fauci is hedging on...

Great story about the effectiveness of the vaccine in a controlled environment and the danger of having anyone unvaccinated. Almost all nursing home residents were vaccinated and infections are down 90%. But staff remains largely unvaccinated and still spreads it to anyone who hasn’t. And there may be a need for booster shots coming up.

Speaking of vaccines and nursing homes, I've been in Fort Myers this week visiting my parents in a nursing home. When you walk in to the lobby they have a screening station and a check list of about 20 questions they ask you about any recent exposure to people with covid or any recent symptoms you might have had. The one question they don't ask you is if you've been vaccinated or not. I asked why in the world wouldn't they ask the single most important question regarding ones potential to expose others to covid. She said they had been asking if people were vaccinated but that but they were told to take the question off of their check list. That's Florida/DeSantis for you -- idiocracy. Anyone who has not been vaccinated simply has no business being in a nursing home.

25 states have now achieved 50% of adults vaccinated.
In 25 States, More Than Half Of Adults Are Fully Vaccinated

I cannot believe how much the vaccination map mirrors the red/blue state map. It just boggles my mind that vaccine acceptance is tied to political affiliation. Pretty sad, really...

My father's nursing home roommate is a big Trumper and he's repeatedly refused to get vaccinated. Perhaps not coincidentally, he was in the hospital the whole time I was here this time. Not sure why. But Pop was enjoying not having to listen to the guy's tv tuned to Fox news all the time (they each have their own TVs, which blare over each other all the time since they are both hard of hearing).

Not that everything these days isn't political, may not be totally politically driven. Minorities sure aren't red state voters.

Well FL reported 93 covid deaths today and NY reported 31 covid deaths. So maybe nursing home patients currently are safer in NY than FL. Either way, nursing homes should be asking visitors if they've been vaccinated, don't you think?
