Herd immunity. It is possible. It's happened before. To suggest otherwise is insulting to one's intelligence. And the only way we don't reach herd immunity with COVID-19? People not getting vaccinated.

I'm not arguing that herd immunity is impossible. I'm saying anyone who says we need zero covid like you are saying is ill-informed.

Why May 4th? Why not make non US citizens prove their need starting today.

0 COVID cases > Any COVID cases. And if getting close to zero is possible, that should be the goal for everyone.

Similar to the previous link, but this one from NPR tells a similar story that younger people now make up the majority of COVID hospitalizations.

I also have to wonder why someone thinks the goal of eradicating COVID through herd immunity is funny?

Nothing like having the CDC playing politics instead of following science. The CDC was awful during the whole pandemic. That falls on Trump and now on Biden as well. Embarrassing.

Powerful teachers union influenced CDC on school reopenings, emails show

“Emails show a call between Walensky and Weingarten — the former boss of New York City’s United Federation of Teachers — was arranged for Feb 7.

The lobbying paid off. In at least two instances, language “suggestions” offered by the union were adopted nearly verbatim into the final text of the CDC document.”

Reaching ‘Herd Immunity’ Is Unlikely in the U.S., Experts Now Believe

Some areas will get to 80% vaccinated. Probably not Florida.

The FDA is expected to announce the Pfizer vaccine safe for 12-15 year olds this week. Will probably take a few weeks to change labels and make necessary adjustments, but everyone 12 and up will likely be eligible by the end of May.

My oldest turns 16 mid June. Not a big change for us, but we do have plans to visit family the end of June. If we can time it, she will now have both doses of the vaccine before we travel.

And I'm not surprised the US likely won't reach herd immunity. Too many selfish and uninformed citizens. Sad.

Too many lazy perspectives on a more complicated issue for some. Sad.

What's complicated about 3.2 million dead, worldwide, in less than 18 months? And many more with significant complications for months? What's complicated about Pfizer and Moderna both being around 95% effective, and the population needing 70% immunity rate, minimum, to reach herd immunity?

It's not complicated. Unless you believe in some sort of conspiracy around the vaccine. But every conspiracy theory around the vaccine hasn't proven to be close to true. Unless anyone here has actual evidence with real numbers?

The truth? Research on mRNA vaccines is about 30 years old. The only thing missing to make the COVID vaccine using mRNA was COVID DNA sequence. Once that was mapped, having a vaccine ready was just a matter of a little bit of time. Read more here if you want to learn about mRNA vaccine history.

It really isn't complicated. Herd immunity is our best chance at eradicating COVID-19. Anyone eligible to be vaccinated should get it. There are really no good reasons not to.

Get the vaccine and go on with your life...no sense in worrying too much about those who choose not to partake. Honestly, some folks just don't see covid as the end of the world hysteria death sentence that is constantly being pushed by the news readers. The deaths will continue to fall, more effective treatments will come to market. It will all be ok.

There is no valid reason not to get vaccinated at this point.
