I think it is time. I like the idea because then you can move off topic posts to the right thread. This thread has turned into a figurative page 136 in too many places. And not in a good way.

 

It isn't a study, it isn't peer-reviewed, it wasn't done by Stanford. If you read it carefully you will find a lot of links to studies that back up tertiary points, but nothing that supports the main theses of the "health hypothesis". Junk science, well-sourced and written in a way that sounds plausible, but still junk science.

Thanks to the mods for opening this back up. I've been watching the national numbers, which after a sharp decline, began rising again around March 20. Thankfully, the 14-day average appears to be leveling off.

Looking at the map, though, it's apparent that Michigan and Minnesota are a pretty bad mess. Why? I think MI was one of the states hit hardest early on because of Detroit airport's many connections with Asian countries. I don't understand why MI/MN are in such a bad way right now, but imagine it has to do with a variant.

New reported cases are currently at levels similar to the peak in summer 2020. New deaths and hospitalizations appear to be on the rise, reflecting the same kind of lag we've experienced from the start. Hopefully once those numbers begin to decline again, they won't stop declining.

 

Spring break too. Lots of cases brought back there.

 

Sure, but don't kids from other states go for spring break too? It almost seems random, but there must be some confluence of factors that explain where the current surges exist.

 

They opened bars etc. too. And spring break is staggered.

 

I wonder if Mn opened bars before other states. How is spring break staggered at the state level? I’m not trying to argue - genuinely don’t know.

 

Ban spring break.

Problem solved.

 

Schools have breaks at different times. So it runs March to April.

 

UF didn't have spring break this year, don't know if it helped but the university has done a helluva job keeping the covid counts very low.
