So, California Governor Gavin Newsom writes the POTUS a letter yesterday stating they expect 25.5 million Californians to contract Covid-19 within the next 8 weeks. Mind you, this is after several counties in California have already gone to a shelter in place policy. 25.5 million is more than half the state's population. My question: if over half of our pop is going to get Covid-19, even with shelter in place restrictions, what the hell is the point? His letter is available for all to see:

Coronavirus: California estimates 25.5 million residents — 56% of the state — will get virus in next 8 weeks

Corruption rules but does it have to be so obvious?

    https://www.salon.com/2020/03/18/how-jared-kushners-family-is-cashing-in-on-covid-19_partner/

The Kushner family is trying to cash in on the pandemic that could kill millions of us.

Oscar Health, the health insurance company co-founded by Jared Kushner's younger brother, announced Friday it has launched a testing center locator for COVID-19. It shows where more than 100 centers are in the United States. The company is also offering a risk assessment survey and means to talk to a doctor online.

Joshua Kushner co-founded Oscar Health in 2012. His co-founders are Mario Schlosser, the company CEO, and Harvard Business School classmate Kevin Nazemi who left the company in 2015.

Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, has become increasingly involved in Team Trump's response to the pandemic. He helped write Trump's half-baked Oval Office speech on the disease. The Kushner brothers co-founded Cadre, a real-estate investing start-up.

Do you think they just set this up yesterday, or were they swinging deals for themselves while telling everybody "virus is DNC hoax" and not to worry? Keep in mind the President is also apparently taking his sweet time on using the Defense Authorization he just signed. DO YOU WONDER WHY!?

Look at these freaks in the Senate, apparently this was an "all Senators" meeting and not just GOP so I wonder if some dem Senators also did the same, but so far it's these two who traded on this info while playing along with the "Hoax" narrative...

Senator Dumped Up to $1.7 Million of Stock After Reassuring Public About Coronavirus Preparedness — ProPublica

Sen. Kelly Loeffler reportedly 'dumped millions' in stock before coronavirus tanked markets

It is looking very much like the administration was "slow playing" the issue to give people time to sell stocks and set up personal deals. The corruption, even in a pandemic, is absolutely staggering.

California Governor declares statewide stay at home order starting now.
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2020/03/19/coronavirus-latest-news/

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) issued a statewide stay-at-home order starting Thursday evening. “This is a moment we need to make tough decisions," Newsom said at an online news conference. It is the strongest statewide restriction yet aimed at stemming the spread of the coronavirus. The announcement follows similar orders issued in the past few days across the San Francisco Bay area and Los Angeles.

I wonder how many had this virus and didn't realize it, and has already recovered?

HUGE DEVELOPMENT! ... Now 3 International Studies Find Chloroquine with Azithromycin Shows 100% Success Rate in Treating Coronavirus in 6 Days! (VIDEO)

There are now THREE international studies — China, Australia and France — that found that Chloroquine with Azithromycin Shows 100% Success Rate in Treating Coronavirus in 6 Days!
    Rep. Mark Green (R-TN) :
The old reliable Malaria drug chloroquine, the newer version hydroxychloroquine has shown really good, three studies, one in Australia, one in China and now one in France mixed with azithromycin, just the old Z-Pac that we take for bronchitis, has had 100%. It cleared the virus, in some cases in three days, that cocktail in every one of the patients in that study… It’s very promising, 100% of the virus gone in six days!

    I hope this is true

I don't disagree, they deserve a finger(a big middle) as well. But the gov't response has been sub par.
The travel restrictions and bans were a good move, it bought time. But that time was misused.
Now with articles coming out that HHS was fully aware of this scenario, even running pandemic training in 2019 and not preparing is just bad.
But my original post responding to GF calling out Doctors for not doing something is pure ignorance on his part. Drs and all healthcare workers are risking their lives to take care of the sick.

The point is to flatten the curve. Certainly this has been explained to you. The idea is to keep everyone from contracting the disease at or near the same time to prevent our health care system from being bottlenecked. Those bottlenecks create spikes in mortality because not everyone can be helped.

My sister's daughter and family went to Tybee Island beach off Savannah yesterday. They were able to keep plenty of distance from other people. But large groups of 20somethings were partying, hugging, jumping on each other, etc.
The city must have noticed. It closed the beaches last night and banned open alcohol consumption anywhere in the city.

Fauci was on multiple news channels last night trying to keep the public informed. He did have to mention that they want to use Chloroquine in controlled trials so they could gather more data on it's effectiveness. While Trump sold it as more of an upcoming treatment (which is almost the same thing I heard on Hannity's radio show the day before . . . Trump must have been listening), Fauci significantly backed down off of that that idea.

There was another virologist . . . I think it was the guy who was Time's Man of the Year in the 90s for his work on Aids (name escapes me) who said we would be VERY lucky if we found an existing medicine that would work on this virus. He was much more optimistic that some of the drugs that companies were developing for SARS and the other Coronavirus strains would also work with this strain of Coronavirus. But he had to emphasize that these drugs were not approved for any other uses, they were new drugs and still in the testing phase so don't look for them to be used on patients any time soon.

The best thing to do in a Trump press conference is to mute when Trump is on the podium and then turn on the volume when the experts are talking. I think there is a significant disconnect between what people are telling him and what he wants to believe. Either that or some people are telling him what he wants to hear and then telling the public something different later. Either way, it just chips away at the public's confidence in the Oval Office. The market crashing after his uber positive and upbeat press conference last Sunday should have alerted him that most market traders have already lost faith in him.

Funny, I was looking at that map this morning before work! If that's accurate then Florida is (in trouble)!!!

We have an incredibly high elderly population, tourism is one of our primary industries, our unemployment benefits are some of the worst and lowest in the US . . . . good God people . . . it's all very depressing.

We really could use that miracle the President referred to a month ago about now.

Reading that report it seems to say it works well on cell cultures in a lab. Now they need to see how it works in actual human physiology which is a much more complicated chemical and biological system.

Here's hoping it will turn out to be an effective therapy but not all drugs that work in cell cultures transfer their effectiveness when put in the human body.
