One data point out of millions. There are going to be a few of these no matter the disease.

On the flip side my Gator buddy who’s in his 70s, his wife, 2 grandkids, son, daughter in law, and her 2 parents just got over covid. None of them had more than a sniffle or two and low fevers, and only one of them lost taste and smell for about a week.

It kills some and hardly affects others. Now my buddy is saying that covid is BS and his family is proof.

    Still need to be diligent

Posts like these are nice anecdotal experiences, but the raw data show us what's truly going on. As I've said here thousands of times before, if you're under age 60 and no pre-existing health conditions, your chances of complications from Covid are almost nil. I fit comfortably into that category, so I don't see myself worrying about it for what will turn into years on end and putting my life on hold. But that's what some people want, because they've apparently never faced down adversity in their lives or they choose to ignore the actual data and make life decisions based on anecdotal experiences.

Most of the Covid stuff is BS. The data show us the true consequences of the disease. In Kentucky, schools remain closed indefinitely due to an arbitrary metric that almost all counties are hitting. We've had one minor die in the state since this started in March. That kid had a litany of major health problems before they got Covid. Governor Beshear barely won election over Matt Bevin, due in large part to the surge in teachers and teacher's families voting for Beshear and stepping away from Bevin. This was driven largely by the teacher's union in Jefferson county. They put a tremendous amount of pressure on teachers and really pushed the get out to vote drive. So we have Captain Numbnuts as governor now and he will keep schools closed, because that's what the union wants. He is beholden to them. I can go get a lap dance tonight at 3am at the local titty bar in Louisville, perfectly legal. But we can't send our kids to school. Not even on an A/B schedule type setup. That's f***ed up.

Mom is 81 and had few problems. The random nature of the severity or long term problems should scare evrybody.

right now the fatality rate is 1.76% based on Oklahoma latest numbers.

Not sure about you but I wouldn't want to bet my life on those odds. I would certainly be investing heavily in lottery tickets if I could get those odds though

Or..........people want to exercise any and all existing precautions because they care about other members of the community who face higher risk.

No, just saw that on The Hill and was shocked. Not shocked actually, it was expected after the Holiday get togethers.

Sad that this is the norm now.

There is a very detailed vaccine dispersal plan for the states to follow.

We should have it in 2 weeks

apparently a lot of these dumb, anti-masker, trump followers who first scoff at Covid only to end up in the hospital with it.

Yes, the effects vary quite dramatically. It's ntl short-sighted of your friend to use his family to suggest that covid is bs.

Weren't you a fireman for a few decades? You'd agree that some fires injure or kill people and some don't but that fires in houses and other buildings are dangerous even if a particular fire doesn't kill or injure anyone?

With the peak in new cases being 12/16-18, we won't see the peak in daily deaths until next week. Hopefully we don't set a new peak in new cases this week or next week from holiday get togethers.
