You do realize that almost all of the "new" cases were among individuals who contracted the virus prior to the imposition of the new restrictions? If the incidence of new cases hasn't decloned in those states several weeks from now I will buy into your argument that the restrictions are useless and based solely on politics.

 

Here's California's chart. I assume you will buy into the argument that restrictions are useless and based on politics.

What do you think a restaurant closure, curfew, etc. are? They are keeping people away from each other.

As I figured, you won't actually go on the record in favor of any restriction designed to create social distancing. Thus, the comment.

 

So since you made a baseless comment, you feel the need to try some "gotcha" moment. I've said since the outbreak started that the elderly should be quarantining as much as possible. So you again are wrong and making crap up.

 

So social distancing only works to stop spread for people over 80? Can you provide some evidence that the infection rate for the elderly is not highly correlated with community infection rates? What government policy should we pass to increase social distancing of people over 80?

 

Dude, you got called out and now are trying to change the subject when you made crap up. Only the elderly should isolate because their chances of dying from Covid are astronomical compared to anyone under 60. Go look at the stats. But hey, keep trying for that 'gotcha" moment, it's right around the corner...

 

So the disease doesn't pass from people that are 55 to people that are 61? Can you provide a single example of a high community infection rate but a low elderly infection rate of the elderly at the county or national level based on higher isolation of the elderly?

BTW, you still haven't provided a policy (you know, something that could be passed by the government) that you would support.

 

Look at who's dying. I don't care if I get covid or my kids get covid as the odds of any issues coming up are close to zero. Only the elderly and people with multiple health issues are at risk of Covid. Keep talking in circles if you feel like it. You got called out and are trying hard to move the story someplace else. Myself nor my kids will be taking the Covid vaccine at this time. We don't know the risks with the vaccine at this time and they are under near zero danger from Covid so we will wait until there is more information available. My mom will be getting the vaccine because she's in the highest risk population.

 

Yeah, I am still pointing out that you haven't backed a single actual government policy to increase social distancing. And you are trying hard to now move to talking about vaccines, which was not the subject of the point that I made. One of us is clearly shifting the story someplace else. But it isn't me.

 

It's not about you or your kids being at risk from COVID. It's about you or the kids being vectors, who infect someone at risk, or infect a friend who infects someone at risk who they live with, like a Grandparent. You can say just isolate those who are at danger, but that's around 50% of the population. And it's not like the elderly who live at nursing homes can just shut the doors and force all those that work there to never leave. And Grandparents that live in multi-generational homes don't have too many options either.

In science terms, the higher the RO, the more who get infected, the more at-risk people will get infected and die. Thankfully, we have a vaccine, but that's not going to be widely available, so the best we can do right now is keep the RO as low as possible. Even if you, yourself isn't in danger. You do it because it keeps others out of danger. Too bad we have become so selfish a society that these sacrifices fall on so many deaf ears.

 

Your assertion was I believed ALL policies don't work to stop Covid. So NOW you need me to bring a bunch of data to show even though i've said countless times that we should isolate the elderly to prove WHY i believe that? You got called out sport. Just apologize and move on. Like others did regarding in person schooling. It's ok to say "my bad".

 

You got called out correctly, but will never admit it (BTW, technically, I only said you dismiss all policies that increase social distancing). But you will never support an actual policy that increases social distancing, just a generalized guideline that doesn't require you to do anything. I have not seen you promote a single actual policy (i.e., an executive order or legislation) that increased social distancing (while supporting many that reduced it), and are still not doing so now.
